It appears that Zac Efron and Jake Gyllenhaal are both competing for the same role. The lead in the big-screen adapatation of Rock of Ages. Who should it go to? Zac Effron was recently spotted checking out Rock of Ages on Broadway. And now it’s been said that he’s up for the lead in the movie version of the show. But then we heard that Jake Gyllenhaal is also eying the role. In the Broadway version, the lead is currently played by previous American Idol contestant, Constantine Maroulis. Neither Zac or Jake really remind us of Constantine, but maybe one of them could play the role even better. Everyone knows Zac Efron can sing due to his multiple High School Musical movies. But the last we heard, he was turning down the lead in the upcoming movie Footloose because he didn’t want to be known only as the boy who sang in movies. So, why is he vying for the lead in another movie musical? We didn’t even realize that Prince of Persia star Jake Gyllenhaal could sing. But allegedly he’s also slated to appear in the movie musical Damn Yankees with Jim Carrey. Who would you rather see in the Rock of Ages movie lead- Zac Efron or Jake Gyllenhaal? We aren’t sure who we prefer. There is a seven year difference between them, so it may come down to the age range of the cast.

Who should it go to?

Zac Efron to Guest Star on Entourage

Posted in: Coffee Talk by newsdesk on June 3, 2024

Might Vincent Chase suddenly not be the best looking person in his Entourage? Sources confirm that Zac Efron has landed a guest-starring role on the hit HBO series. No word yet on the exact role Efron will play, but the show is known for depicting celebrities simply as themselves. “He was filming a scene and talking on his cell phone,” said an onlooker near the Beverly Hills Niketown store, where Efron was being filmed. “None of the other Entourage cast was here. He was really nice.” Season six of the show premieres on July 12. Efron is far from the only famous guest star lined up. The following celebs will also appear on the series:

Lil Wayne
Tom Brady
LeBron James
Aaron Sorkin
Autumn Reeser
Kate Mara

Eminem Storms Out of MTV Movie Awards

Posted in: Awards by newsdesk on June 2, 2024

Eminem returned to the spotlight Sunday, spitting the lyrics of his name-dropping singles “We Made You” and “Crack A Bottle” from his hit album Relapse at the MTV Movie Awards. But not long after his performance, he stormed away from his seat in the auditorium when Sacha Baron Cohen, dressed as his flamboyant character Brüno in angel wings and a barely-visible thong, descended on wires and landed face down in the rapper’s lap. Bodyguards pounced and Eminem’s entourage made its exit in what was the most outrageous moment of a night of filled with irreverence. Other examples: host Andy Samberg spoofing box office hits like Slumdog Millionaire (which was nominated six times but came up empty handed) and Star Trek, Amy Poehler accepting the Golden Popcorn trophy for the best “WTF moment” and Forest Whitaker singing an operatic rendition of Samberg’s Emmy Award winning song “D- in a Box.” But the night belonged to the film sensation Twilight, which picked up five awards, including the top prize for best movie. After Shia LaBeouf handed out the best fight award to its stars Robert Pattinson and Cam Gigandet for their tussle in the vampire movie, Pattinson also picked up the award for the best breakthrough performance by a male. Later, he and costar Kristen Stewart teased the crowd by nearly reenacting the kiss between their characters Edward Cullen and Bella Swan while accepting the award for best buss. Stewart also won the prize for best female performance. “I was just about as awkward as you thought I was going to be,” the flustered star said at the podium. Other winners included High School Musical 3: Senior Year’s Ashley Tisdale, who won in the female breakthrough performance category while her costar Zac Efron (see photo) won for best male performance. Jim Carey won for best comedic performance for his role in Yes Man and Heath Ledger was posthumously honored for his legendary performance in The Dark Knight. The best song from a movie went to Miley Cyrus for “The Climb,” which was featured in Hannah Montana: The Movie.
Efron, Kiefer Sutherland and Triumph the Insult Dog presented former MTV Movie Awards host Ben Stiller with the MTV Generation Award, honoring the actor for a career of “selling out box offices without selling out.”

People has unveiled its 20th annual 100 Most Beautiful People list, and overall we have to say the list was fairly predictable. Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry and People’s Sexiest Man Alive Hugh Jackman all made the list along with Michelle Obama and those much discussed arms of hers. Pop phenoms Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato were also not shocking additions. We highly approve of relative newcomers and on-screen couples Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart from “Twilight,” and Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto of “Slumdog Millionaire.” We’re 100% behind the decision for a “Stars Without Makeup” section, including our favorite supermodel ever, Cindy Crawford, and the cute girls of “90210. Kudos also to the comedians on the list who prove nothing is sexier than a sense of humor. Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Mann and Chelsea Handler all made the cut. Now on to the more surprising decisions! Christina Applegate made the cover! We’ve loved the actress since her early days on “Married with Children,” and though the show isn’t a smash, we were glad to see Applegate rebound into the spotlight with “Samantha Who?” as well as a stint on Broadway. Though she was an unlikely choice, her breast cancer double mastectomy and recovery story is surely one of the most beautiful tales we witnessed all year. At 37 years old, Applegate remains as pretty on the outside as she is in her heart. Here’s where People’s list starts to fall off. Aside from the obvious choices that bored us, the magazine screws up and picks Taylor Momsen, young Jenny from “Gossip Girl,” instead of Leighton Meester or Blake Lively, the stunning Blair and Serena. Sure, they might have been on last year’s list, but they are far and above the prettiest young things on TV. And the worst thing about the list? People singles out two of the Jonas Brothers—Nick and Joe Jonas—and excludes Kevin Jonas from the list. Way to be completely shallow! As women who don’t even fully understand or appreciate the obsession with the Jonas Brothers, we still think this move is totally screwed up, and thus have soured on the list. The 100 Most Beautiful People in the World issue hits newsstands later this week.

Zac Efron Is Getting Serious

Posted in: Coffee Talk by newsdesk on April 18, 2024

Zac Efron is making the rounds to promote his new movie 17 Again, which opens in U.S. Theaters on April 17. The comedy has been breaking records abroad but expect to see more serious roles for this actor in the near future. In the May Issue of GQ Magazine, Zac admitted he wanted to break away from his tween heartthrob image and be taken seriously as an actor. “A guy I worked with recently told me, ‘You have to earn the right to hold a gun.’ And that completely made sense. Can you imagine me running around with a gun in a film? I noticed the second I started that the things you want to be involved with are always just out of reach. Most parts you’d want, people won’t really consider you for, because you have to earn that respect. The things people do want you for are usually not things you want to do. At one point, somebody said to me, ‘What do you wanna do? A cool crime drama? Do you wanna shoot up heroin? We’ll do anything you wanna do…the Musical.” In 17 Again, Efron plays Mike, a high school basketball star who blows the big game and winds up thirtysomething, dejected and headed for a divorce. Then the universe intervenes, in the form of a magical janitor; Efron becomes a teenager again, goes undercover at his old high school, meddles productively with his high-school-age kids’ messed-up lives, and tries to save his marriage.

This family comedy may not be a complete departure for the actor but it is a step in the right direction. It will be interesting to see his career evolve. We are betting he gets better with age.

Upcoming actor Sterling Knight

Posted in: Film by newsdesk on April 16, 2024

The 19-year-old upcoming actor currently stars as Chad Dylan Cooper in Disney’s new series, Sonny With A Chance. But did you also know he’s Zac Efron’s son? Well, kind of. Sterling also stars as Alex O’Donnell, Mike O’Donnell’s teenage son in upcoming comedy film, 17 Again.

17 Again is about a guy (Matthew Perry) who gets to turn back time and be seventeen again (played by Zac Efron), rewriting his life in the process. The flick hits theaters in April 17th.

Sterling Knight took a break at his J-14 photo shoot to dish about playing Zac Efron’s son in the upcoming flick, 17 Again.

The 20-year-old actor shared, “It was kind of cool. From my relationship with Zac, we really kind of became best friends but he had this fatherly kind of relationship with me. He was always coming to me and guiding me along the way where as I was just a best friend. It was a fun time.”

Sterling plays Alex O’Donnell in the flick, which hits theaters NEXT FRIDAY, April 17.
