MacGruber has defused his last bomb on television. After eight years, Will Forte is exiting NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” Forte played such memorable characters like “MacGyver” send-up MacGruber, The Falconer, and recently an inept ESPN Classic sports commentator who knew nothing about sports and less about commentating. In a statement, Forte thanked his cast members and executive producer Lorne Michaels for his years on the show. “After eight great seasons, Will has made the decision to move on from ‘SNL’ to pursue new opportunities,” Forte’s rep wrote. “He is eternally grateful to Lorne and all of the incredible people he worked with over the years.” Earlier in the year, Forte brought his character of MacGruber to the big-screen. It was one of the biggest box-office flops of the summer. Besides “SNL,” Forte recently had a guest-starring role on “30 Rock” and provides the voice of Principal Wally Farquhare on “The Cleveland Show.” He’s also set to appear in the comedy “A Good Old-Fashioned Orgy.”
