Westlife have announced a brace of shows this summer as part of Forestry Commission Live Music where acts perform in spectacular woodland locations around the country.
During their 12 years at the top of pop’s hierarchy, Westlife have sold over 43 million records around the world. In the UK alone they have scored 10 multi-platinum albums and 14 No.1 hits, making them the top-selling group of the past decade.
This prolific chart domination is attributed to hits like ‘Swear It Again’, ‘Flying Without Wings’, ‘What Makes A Man’, ‘Uptown Girl’, ‘Queen Of My Heart’, ‘World Of Our Own’, ‘Unbreakable’, ‘You Raise Me Up’ and ‘The Rose’. Critical acclaim for the group has come via numerous awards including two BRITS, an MTV Europe Music Award and being the only artists to win the prestigious Record of the Year an incredible four times.
Money generated by Forestry Commission Live Music ticket sales is spent directly on the nation’s woodlands, benefiting everything from butterflies to walkers.
Westlife with special guests will be performing:
Friday 15th July Thetford Forest, Nr Brandon, Suffolk.
Saturday 16th July Westonbirt Arboretum, Nr Tetbury, Gloucestershire.

Kerry Katona Dumps Her Husband After He Accuses Her Of Infidelity. Once considered a fresh-faced rising star and celebrity in the U.K., Kerry Katona’s rollercoaster life seems to be getting more out of control. The ex-Atomic Kitten has reportedly dumped her husband, Mark Croft, after he allegedly accused her of cheating on him while she attended a fitness camp. Katona, who has seen her weight balloon both up and down, has been facing bankruptcy for the past year and a media backlash after several scandalous photos see the mother of four engaging in drug-filled activities. Now it seems that Katona might have finally smartened up by dumping her ex-cab driver husband, although the odds seem doubtful. Sources tell the Daily Mail: “It’s fair to say that Kerry and Mark are certainly not together at the moment.” “Kerry came back from camp feeling like a million dollars. But Mark, one to always think the worse of her, was convinced that she had been seeing someone.” The source adds, “It was ridiculous but he wouldn’t let it lie and they had a huge bust-up.” The couple has been together for three years and have broken up numerous times in the past, only to have reconciled their differences a few days later. Katona was previously married to ex-Westlife singer Brian McFadden.
Take That back Cowell’s Haiti single. Take That and Susan Boyle have both agreed to appear on Simon Cowell’s charity record. The pop singers have joined an ever growing list of stars who will record a version of REM’s song ‘Everybody Hurts’ to aid the victims of the two earthquakes that have struck Haiti in the last two weeks. Susan told The Sun newspaper: “The Haiti earthquake has caused devastation and suffering that most of us will never experience nor could imagine. “I feel privileged to be a part of such a wonderful project that will raise money to help the country.” The line up for the single so far includes Rod Stewart, Mika, Michael Buble, Cheryl Cole, Leona Lewis, JLS and Westlife and Alexandra Burke. ‘Broken Heels’ singer Alexandra is flying from Germany to the UK on Monday to record her part for the song. She said: “I hope the single raises lots of money. It’s great that we can come together and do this. It’s a very special song.” REM have agreed that all royalties from the single – including those they would get from originally writing the song – will go to the Haiti appeal. Lead singer Michael Stipe said: “Any time anyone does something good, or tries to do something positive, the world shifts ever so slightly towards love and towards goodness.” U2 and Jay-Z are also assembling their own charity single to raise money for the disaster in the US.
WESTLIFE have admitted that they have given up on trying to break America. The Irish boyband had a Top 20 hit in the States with their debut single ‘Swear It Again’ in 2000, but almost ten years on, have never managed to score a follow-up hit. Their latest album, Where We Are, features production from several prestigious American producers, prompting reports they were planning another assault on the lucrative US market. But group member Mark Feehily said that was Continue reading →
WESTLIFE have cancelled a promotional tour after band member Nicky Byrne’s father died suddenly. Byrne has flown back to Ireland to be with his family after dad Nicky Snr died yesterday from a suspected heart attack aged 60. Byrne, 31, had been on a promotional tour with Westlife in London, but he has jetted home to comfort his mother Yvonne, sister Geraldine and brother Adam. He was understood to be very close to his father, who used to be a musician and singer on the cabaret scene and had his own band called ‘Nicky and the Studz’. He inspired Continue reading →

Barney Hooper at PRS for Music said:
“It has already been noted that recorded music’s share of consumers’ disposable income is going down, while the share for live music is going up. The latest data from PRS data suggests that the longevity of the top acts is a factor in this. Between them, the top acts in 2008 have around 200 years of touring experience. More than ever, consumers want to see the legends of the industry in the flesh. This suggests that the value of touring will only continue to grow.”
The value of tours has increased steadily from £251m in 2005, to £297m (2006), £311m (2007) and £403m (2008).
The top touring acts, 2005 – 2008 were:
1. Take That
2. Girls Aloud

“Live music is more popular than ever and therefore it is a great UK success story, generating huge revenues for UK PLC. In particular, older talent is driving demand. While these trends continue, PRS for Music will continue to make sure that this income is collected.”

Ramzi is that talented individual – an accomplished Singer, Musician, Performer, Songwriter and Producer. With his dulcet vocal tones, catchy melodies and slick production Ramzi continues to capture hundreds of new fans across the world everyday. Ramzi, 26 was born in the UK to Lebanese parents, however spending much of his childhood in Africa and the Middle East. Growing up as part of a musical family with his mother a classical pianist, and father an avid music lover, Ramzi began singing and playing the guitar from the young age of nine. From being classically trained on the piano, writing and producing his first songs at the mere age of twelve, Ramzi’s natural talent, development and growth as an artist has led him to be dubbed by many as the UK’s answer to Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Ne-yo. Indeed, as a Songwriter/ Producer Ramzi has already worked with the likes of worldwide chart stars such as Taio Cruz, T2, Westlife, The Gipsy Kings, Misteeq and Lexington Bridge.
