Van Halen’s tour of Australia pulled by promoter

Van Halen have not been on the road for almost two years, since their reunion tour with David Lee Roth. That was going to end in September when they were scheduled to do a mini-tour of Australia with the likes of Alice Cooper, Hole and Bad Religion in what was being called the Soundwave Revolution Festival.

On Tuesday, the promoters of the festival decided to cancel all of the dates, supposedly due to low ticket sales and the lack of a second big headliner. The announcement from the promoters said “It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the Revolution Festival. Many of the festival bands will still be coming to Australia in that time period and team up to bring you some very special shows. These will include multi band/mini festival line-ups in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. We will be announcing these events in the next 7 days.”

Some sources have said that the second headliner was Aerosmith, although there is no confirmation. Van Halen has no plans to tour during September in Australia without the full festival.

That leaves the next Van Halen tour up in the air; however, there is hope they may be hitting the road sometime in the fall or shortly after releasing a rumored new album with Roth. That album would be their first since 1998′s Van Halen III and the first with Roth since 1984.
