The Like announce new single, dates and album. Taken from their new album, ‘Release Me’, which was produced by Mark Ronson and is set to be released this summer, The Like’s new single ‘He’s Not a Boy’ is to be released May 31st through Downtown/Polydor. Their debut album, ‘Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking’ was released a few years back and subsequent tours including shows opening for Muse and Kings of Leon have got them a lot of supporters.
Having just finished touring the US with Arctic Monkeys. Formed: 2001 in Los Angeles, CA’ the Like features Charlotte Froom (bass), Tennessee Thomas (drums), and Z. Berg (vocals). The indie rock trio, which is influenced by the Sundays, Throwing Muses, and the Pretenders, formed in 2001 when the members of the band were still in their teens. They’re also the offspring of some of the music industry’s finest: producer Mitchell Froom, drummer Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello) and A&R impresario Tony Berg. Three EPs — I Like the Like, …And the Like, and Like It or Not — were independently released via the band’s website or sold at shows prior to the Like landing a recording contract with Geffen in 2004. Fresh out of high school, the Like toured with the likes of Maroon 5, Rooney, and Phantom Planet while writing and recording material for their debut album. Producer Wendy Melvoin (Prince & the Revolution) and mixer Alan Moulder (Curve, Depeche Mode, My Bloody Valentine) helped put the finishing touches on Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking?, which was issued in September 2005. The Like are in the UK this week, bringing their “super-cool 60’s influenced feisty pop” to stages across London, including the Camden Crawl. The Like are playing these shows from Friday onwards:
