The Kills – Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart – have today confirmed they will headline the second stage at Hard Rock Calling 2011. The show comes just days before the release of their new single, ‘Future Starts Slow’, on June 27th.
The Kills rocker Jamie Hince weds Kate Moss in secret ceremony. The supermodel was reportedly joined in Sicily, Italy, by just a few close friends and family members as she tied the knot with The Kills rocker Jamie Hince ‘ who she started dating in September 2007 ‘ on August 7. A source said: “It was quiet – but still very romantic. ‘Kate’s had a fairly turbulent love life but she’s a romantic at heart. The plans were kept very quiet as Kate wanted the day to be low-key and purely a celebration of their love. She’s never been one for convention or tradition, but Jamie’s been there for her through thick and thin, and she simply felt the time was right.” Kate ‘ who wore a see-through white dress and was barefoot for the ceremony – and Jamie reportedly decided to go to the idyllic island to avoid as much attention as possible, and chose a small picturesque church to declare their love for one another. The British star’s eight-year-old daughter Lila ‘ whose father is Kate’s ex-boyfriend Jefferson Hack ‘ was one of three ringbearers at the ceremony.
The 36-year-old beauty was determined to keep the ceremony “spiritual” and the couple celebrated their love by dancing under the trees. Our source told us: ‘They planned the day for weeks and were so excited. Kate didn’t want a stuffy, formal do, but something spiritual. ‘Minutes after tying the knot, the giggling newlyweds were outside the church, dancing under trees.’ Kate has had an eventful love life since her rise to modeling fame as a teenager, and has dated many stars including actor Johnny Depp, photographer Mario Sorrenti and rocker Pete Doherty. She has been spotted wearing a huge rock on her ring finger several times over the past few months, and it is believed Jamie proposed on her birthday in January.

Known for her waifish figure, Kate Moss ushered in what would come to be known as the era of “heroin chic” with her rise to popularity in the early ’90s. Despite the controversy, Moss’ stardom grew throughout the decade and into the next, making her one of the profession’s highest-paid personalities. Over the years, Moss has also gained status as a tabloid celebrity, weathering controversy over her weight, bouts with drug abuse, and tumultuous relationships, most notably with actor Johnny_Depp and rocker Pete_Doherty, the latter of whom she became engaged to in 2007. Moss had a daughter, Lila Grace Moss, on September 29, 2002, with movie editor Jefferson Hack.Kate Moss is having hypnotherapy to beat addiction. Kate Moss is having hypnotherapy to help her give up cigarettes and alcohol in a bid to get pregnant. The supermodel – who in the past has insisted on having 100 cigarettes near her at all times – is reportedly taking action so she and her fiance, The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince, can start a family together. A friend told The Sun newspaper: ‘Kate is aware that she smokes heavily and probably drinks a little too much. So she has been to see a Harley Street therapist to help her break those habits. Jamie is keen to start a family and Kate knows that it would be wise to try and conquer her vices before she gets pregnant again.’ The British fashion icon – who already has a seven-year-old daughter Lila from her relationship with Jefferson Hack – tried to kick her nicotine habit in February 2009, but couldn’t quit permanently. However, her hypnotherapist seems to be having a positive effect on her. The pal said: ‘She’s really been enjoying her sessions and has already begun to see the benefits.
The XX: Band You Should Know. One of the great quests in rock music has been to try to bring together traditional guitar-drum-bass rock sounds with dance music. Some of the biggest bands in the world have made the attempt (most notably U2, who boldly attempted to bridge the gap between rock and electronica with Zooropa and Pop in the 1990s), but most have failed. At the end of the day, groups with rock elements are written off as dance Continue reading →
JACK WHITE has admitted he had second thoughts about going public with his new band because he thought he’d be slammed by critics. The White Stripes frontman said he was concerned that when he debuted his new band, the Dead Weather, he would be criticised for having too many musical projects.White frotns The Dead Weather with Alison Mosshart of indie two-piece The Kills, Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Dean Fertita and bassist Jack Lawrence. But he said he was worried about starting his third collaboration because he didn’t want fans to assume he was only working with Mosshart to recreate the success of their respective rock duos. Speaking to Uncut magazine, he said: “There was a self-consciousness, I think, but it was after the fact. When we started we didn’t even know we were making a record or starting a band. “But when you’re finishing a project you remember, ‘Oh that’s right, we have to release this to the lions now.’ And people are going to say, ‘Oh right, they’re both in two-piece guy/girl bands.’ They’re going to think we did it on purpose.” And the star said he only started the band because of the great chemistry among the members. He added: “It was a happy accident. Everybody involved really inspired each other. If we’re hanging out and it’s really working, it’s unfair for me to say, ‘OK sorry. I have this other successful band. Sorry, too busy.’ That would be a shame.”
The Dead Weather have announced their very show for the public, set to take place in New York next week. The project features The White Stripes’ Jack White and The Kills’ Alison Mosshart, along with Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs and Dean Fertita of Queens Of The Stone Age and performed a showcase in the offices of White’s label Third Man Records in Nashville on March 11 in front of 150 people. The band are currently gearing up for the release of their album ‘Horehound’, which was recorded at Third Man Studios earlier this year and will be released in June.
The album was produced by White and will feature lead single ‘Hang You From The Heavens’.
See http://www.thedeadweather.com for more information. The single will be backed up by a cover of Gary Numan’s ‘Are Friends Electric?’ and is available on iTunes now. The New York show will take place at Bowery Ballroom in New York on April 14. Tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, April 8 at 10am EST, and there will be a two-ticket limit per person
A source said: “Jamie thinks it would help the relationship. Plus he fancies the challenge of cracking the US with The Kills. He and bandmate Alison Mosshart are looking into doing a massive tour this year so the timing would be perfect. And Kate already has modelling shoots pencilled in there. It makes perfect sense.”
Kate’s move will be welcome news for her London neighbours, who recently complained to the police about the star’s raucous 35th birthday celebrations last week.
A disgruntled neighbour said: “Several of us complained. It was just so uncomfortable. It’s been like that since she moved here last summer, on and off. They were having some kind of fancy-dress party. They were bringing in a moose head in a van and some high-backed chairs. We could not park our cars.”
