Innerpartysystem remix Beastie Boys track

Posted in: Releases by newsdesk on June 3, 2024

Innerpartysystem have put their own unique spin on a new Beastie Boys track, available for streaming at www.myspace.com/innerpartysystem. Their bootleg was enabled by a much sought-after Beastie Boys vinyl, only 500 of which were made. Somehow, Innerpartysystem managed to get their hands on one of the vinyls which were inserted into random packages for the ‘Check Your Head’ reissue that was released recently. The tracklisting for this strictly limited vinyl was. The Innerpartysystem remix is of an a capella titled BBoys in the Cut. IPS just released their Heart of Fire EP in the UK and have recently returned to their native US after a series of packed-out headline shows plus stunning performances at Camden Crawl and Give It A Name. The four members of innerpartysystem hail from the small towns that surround Reading, Pennsylvania. The rural, stark nature of the landscape has certainly had an effect on the band’s sound which incorporates throbbing electronic beats with the aesthetic of a rock band whom, like Nine Inch Nails, Pendulum and Prodigy, aren’t afraid to mix styles and mess with the formula. Innerpartysystem worked with a stellar line-up of producers and engineers on their self-titled debut album, released last year - Stuart Price (Madonna, Missy Elliott, The Killers, Gwen Stefani), Alan Moulder (Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins, My Bloody Valentine) and Mark ‘Spike’ Stent (Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, Goldfrapp).

Posted in: Releases by newsdesk on May 25, 2024

THE BIGGEST STARS in the music industry have joined forces on the latest Rhythms Del Mundo album, ‘Classics’ produced to raise awareness and funds for climate crisis projects and natural disaster relief. The album is released on Universal Music on July 13, 2009. The sublime talent of Cuba’s finest musicians together with the unmistakable vocals of artists including Amy Winehouse, The Killers, Jack Johnson, The Rolling Stones, Kaiser Chiefs, Fall Out Boy, and many others, results in a unique album merging Afro-Cuban rhythms with some of the most memorable songs of the last 40 years. With brand new recordings from The Killers, Editors, KT Tunstall, The Zutons and OneRepublic, through to special recordings from contributing artists such as Amy Winehouse and Jack Johnson, this long player is set to be the soundtrack to the summer! Rhythms Del Mundo – Classics is the latest project from UK climate change charity, Artists Project Earth (APE) which was formed in 2005 following the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami. This album follows in the footsteps of their first release Rhythms Del Mundo – Cuba! (ft. Coldplay, U2, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and others) which went platinum and gold in many countries across the globe and was met with much critical acclaim; ‘….an album made with such integrity and passion that turns out as entertaining as this, is hard to resist.’ – The Independent. As a result more than 175 groundbreaking projects have been funded globally, all of which are developing solutions to climate change, thanks to support from APE and the Rhythms Del Mundo albums. To celebrate the launch of Rhythms Del Mundo – Classics, APE will make an award of $100,000 to the project judged most likely to make a significant impact on climate change. Previous projects include the natural rebuilding of coral reefs, and reforestation in Brazil and Africa. Kenny Young, RDM’s producer and founder of APE says: ‘These great artists have given up their time to be part of an album that will raise awareness and funds for the most crucial crisis facing us today. Climate change is our greatest global challenge – so join us and act now to do something positive for our future.’

Posted in: festivals by newsdesk on May 22, 2024

paul-wellerThe Fast Track to FIB Heineken competition kicked off in spectacular style this month as over 1000 bands registered and uploaded their music in an attempt to win a slot at this year’s Benicássim festival in Spain. For the second year running, Vince Power has partnered up with rapidly emerging youth music brand Supajam, to find Europe’s newest super-group, and so far the response has been phenomenal! The contest allows bands to submit their music online and a careful selection process follows (see below) before the final 5 bands battle it out at a live showdown in Piccadilly’s The Pigalle Club. Voting doesn’t officially start until May 16th but with so much interest in the upload stage of the competition, Supajam are preparing themselves for the inevitable onslaught from bands’ fans. Having already confirmed a monumental line up including The Killers, Oasis, Kings of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, Paul Weller (see photo) , Lily Allen, Glasvegas, Maximo Park, The Horrors, 2 Many DJ’s and Elbow fans have come to expect bands of the very highest calibre, so its no wonder that competition for a slot on the Benicássim bill is fiercer than ever. Last year’s winner JKLMNO have taken massive steps forward since taking home the ‘Fast Track to FIB Heineken’ crown. Since winning the contest they have recorded a live studio session for the BBC and seen their music featured as the ‘Windows Media download of the week’. Set to record a single for physical release in August with Manic Street Preachers producer Greg Haver in the Manics’ own private studio, many are tipping them as one to watch for 2009. Other finalists from last year were Doll And the Kicks who have since supported Morrissey on his European tour and Irish rockers CODES, who shared the stage with Keane on their UK tour. Performance troupe duo Fischerspooner will be performing live at Avalon in Hollywood on Saturday, May 23rd. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 27th at 10 am. Fischerspooner is an art pop performance project created and helmed by Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner that makes music, dance, fashion, film and photography. Their work fuses fine art and pop culture, as in their renowned outsider pop shows bursting with stage effects presented in both art galleries and traditional concert halls. The band’s full-length albums include 1, a punked-up digital party record trussed with conceptual lyrics; and Odyssey, a rich emotional fantasia with a deep, expansive sound. Odyssey was released to critical acclaim. The album featured more structured songs than their first and had singles featured on episodes of Nip/Tuck. The single “Never Win”, went on to become the album’s biggest hit, and was well received in (both) clubs and radio, as well as being used in the 2005 Happy Madison movie, Grandma’s Boy. A taste of the unexpected and full of surprise flavors, Fischerspooner looks forward to unleashing their third album in May, 2009. Entertainment is a sophisticated pop epic bubbling with hooks, swirled with fresh ideas and sounds and is produced by Jeff Saltzman (The Killers, The Black Keys, The Sounds). On tour, the band’s music will be combined with an electric stage show bridging the worlds of art and pop. Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner met at the art institute of Chicago, where they collaborated on performance art pieces. Between 1998 and 2000 the duo moved to New York and wrote a spate of cool electronic tracks to accompany an ambitious new performance idea that took place at the Astor Place Starbucks. With the help of an ever-expanding network of dancers, singers, designers, and artists, the performances grew into large-scale arena-style pop spectacles that were soon staged in galleries and nightclubs all over the world including a summer-long residency at Ibiza’s Man-U-Mission in 2005, the largest nightclub in the world

Norway’s Hove Festivalen is proud to announce that The Prodigy will be smashing out their seminal hits as they take prime position at this year’s festival. The groundbreaking UK band have sold over 17 million albums since starting up in 1990, and are reckoned to be one of the pioneers in modern electronic dance music. Almost twenty years after the group formed, The Prodigy are back with a new album (#1 in the U.K) with their accompanying tour absolutely sold out. Invaders Must Die confirmed the bands position as one of the premier groups in the world, and contained, among other things, a special guest performance by Foo Fighter, Dave Grohl. This is probably the 20th festival they have done for me so they are clearly a favourite and this year they play Reading and Leeds as well as Hove. The band have come back stronger than ever, and the show will epitomize mayhem. Miss it at your peril! ‘ says Melvin Benn. Hove Festival takes place between 22nd and 25th of June 2009 at idyllic Tromøya on the Norwegian south coast. Confirmed acts so far include Faith No More, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Slipknot, Q-Tip, The Ting Tings and many others. For more information about Hove Festival visit www.hovefestival.com
