Feeder to headline Hevy Festival

Posted in: festivals by newsdesk on July 24, 2024

The mighty Feeder will be headlining the main stage at this year’s Hevy Music Festival, topping an awesome line-up also featuring Ash, Gary Numan, Hundred Reasons, The Blackout (replacing Kids In Glass Houses), Attack! Attack!, Sonic Boom Six and In Case Of Fire.

Cancer Bats headline the second stage, following We Are The Ocean, The Ghost Of A Thousand (replacing Flood Of Red), The Xcerts, Heartbreak, SHARKS, Farewell City, Mexico Fallz and After The Ordeal.

Finally, LightsGoBlue headline our local talent showcase on the Hevy Music Festival’s third stage, following More Than Normal, Amber Room, One Day Elliott, Elephants, The Startover, Kingskin, and Eleven Eleven.

The event, in its first year is run by two 22year olds, and is a mammoth acheivement with the acts involved - and part of the regeneration of Folkestone. This at a time when money is so tight in the Credit Crunch, and where the Music industry particulary is in the press with question marks over its future due to illegal downloads etc, puts this as a very topical story in many lights.

download-festivalrtvFrom 12 Jun 2024 - 14 Jun 2024 The UK’s biggest, loudest, distortion-fuelled rock and metal festival returns to Donington Park for three more days of hard and heavy axe-wielding action. With a taste for the biggest and most influential names in the heavy rock scene, Download Festival has attracted sets from KISS, Metallica, Guns ‘N Roses, Iron Maiden and The Prodigy in recent years and fans can expect more big names this time around. The site underwent a revamp last year and it now houses two outdoor stages and a tent as well as an extreme sports bar, five-a-side football pitch, market, merchandise stands and chill-out area Kidney Woods. Download 2009 will offer bespoke camping over the weekend. AGreenerFestival say this about the festival: Download won the ‘most improved’ festival in the 2007 Greener Festival Awards and organisers Live Nation built on this in 2008 with travel planning and carbon offsetting offered to the audience. A new artist briefing booklet that explained the festival’s environmental work was given to performers who were encouraged to improve their own carbon footprint with handy hints and tips. The deposit system for recycling introduced in 2007 was continued and audience recycling in the campsite was encouraged and further promoted.

You Me At Six to headline Slam Dunk

Posted in: Biography, festivals by newsdesk on March 15, 2025

You Me At Six is set to headline this year’s Slam Dunk Festival at Leeds University on Bank Holiday Sunday, May 24. After their electrifying set in 2008 and their rise as pop-rock favourites in the UK, the Surrey quintet were asked to return and headline the one-day festival by organizers.

While American bands have dominated the festival in past years, UK bands are now prevailing with The Blackout, In Case of Fire, We Are The Ocean and The Ghost Of A Thousand performing, to name a few. Other acts confirmed on the bill include Cobra Starship, We The Kings, The King Blues, Anti Flag, Sing It Loud, Hexes and Hundred Reasons.

In its 4th year, Slam Dunk Festival will play host to 40 bands across 6 stages, running from 3pm until 11pm. There will also be an aftershow running until 3am.

About You and me at six.
You Me At Six are a 5-piece rock/ pop/punk band from Weybridge, Surrey who formed in 2005. The five piece played locally until early 2007 when spring support slots with Saosin at Leeds Cockpit (03.05.07) and later Paramore at the Colchester Arts Centre (10.06.07) saw them attract media attention from the likes of Kerrang, Musicscoop and NME. In July 2007 they supported Tonight Is Goodbye on their summer tour along with Death Can Dance and then later that month were featured in Kerrang magazine in their new music section. The group were then recruited as support for firstly Fightstar on their September tour and then Elliot Minor in October 2007. Following their return from those tours they headlined a special Halloween show at the Kingston Peel with support from notable local acts such as Consort With Romeo and We Have A Getaway. In October of 2007 they released their debut single “Save It For The Bedroom” on Slam Dunk Records and then went on their first headline tour with support from Flood Of Red playing six dates across the country. In December 2007 the band were announced as support for The Audition’s February 2008 UK tour. You Me At Six were also nominated for Best British Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards 2007, the category eventually went to Gallows, and headlined the London KOKO whilst playing Klub Kerrang. On December 10th 2007 the band added the B-side to their single “Save It For The Bedroom”, “You’ve Made Your Bed” onto their official myspace.

GO:AUDIO release ‘Drive to the City’

Posted in: Gigs & Tickets, Releases by newsdesk on March 14, 2025

goaudioGO:AUDIO release their new single ‘Drive to the City’ on 20 April through Rubix Records - the third song to be taken from their debut album, ‘Made Up Stories’, released on 11 May.

Shortly after releasing their first singles, ‘She Left Me’ and ‘Made Up Stories’ on Epic Records in the summer of 2008, Go:Audio parted company with the label to release their material independently.

Since then, they have been nominated for Best Newcomers at the Kerrang! Awards 2008 and written yet more material for their Andy Green (Keane) produced debut album. They’ve also sold an unprecedented number of tickets for their live dates, making them arguably the biggest unsigned act in the country.

Go:Audio have built up an enviable online following by engaging their MySpace community in crucial decisions, such as polls to determine the selection of their b-sides and artwork, and have now built up an overwhelming base of people power.

‘Drive To The City’ is a typically anthemic single from the band, mixing up disco synths with a do-or-die pop-rock chorus. Produced by the band’s keyboardist Josh Wilkinson, it’s destined to be sung along to with dizzy abandon when the band head out on the road.
