In November Turin Brakes will be performing their Mercury music nominated, platinum selling debut album “The Optimist”. Turin Brakes’ Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian start the tour on Nov 7th at The Cambridge Junction, play London’s Koko on 11th and finish in Sheffield on 24th.
In 2001 Turnin Brakes shimmering acoustic guitars, vocal harmonies as soft and refreshing as a gentle summer breeze ‘ were captured perfectly on their 2001 debut album, The Optimist, featuring songs such as Underdog (Save Me) and Emergency 72.
‘We have never duplicated the sound of that first record,’ says Gale. ‘It’s an iconic album. We’ve since made records that have been just as good, but that one captured some sort of zeitgeist. On the surface it was melancholy, but underneath it was hopeful. That’s why we called it The Optimist.’

Pop megastar Lady Gaga tweeted that she’s finished her third album. She has polished off the album in an unlikely musical spot: the Midwest US state of Nebraska.
She tweeted: “In Nebraska, finishing up record today. I’m so proud of the album: I keep dancing+drinking: metal/techno rock journey of a woman on the run.”
She also tweeted a photo of herself, stamped ‘GAGA’ in red and displaying the release date of her album, and showing off the new, weird facial accoutrements that give her severe cheekbones and sharp eyebrows.
The album’s self-titled single has now spent five weeks at the top of the Billboard charts.
Born This Way the album will be released on May 23

Billy Ray Cyrus admitted the star’s recent behaviour – including smoking a legal high through a bong device and throwing her 18th birthday party in a bar ‘ have left him worried that she is being given bad advice.
He explained: “Every time the train went off the track. her people, or as they say in today’s news, her handlers, every time they’d put the blame on me. I took it because I’m her daddy. OK, nail me to the cross.
“I’m scared for her. She’s got a lot of people around her that’s putting her in a great deal of danger. I want to get her sheltered from the storm.
Billy Ray – who is currently in the process of divorcing Miley’s mother Tish Cyrus ‘ also revealed he avoided the singer-and-actress’ 18th birthday party because he didn’t want to be blamed for the fact it was held at Los Angeles bar Trousdale, even though she is three years under the legal age for drinking alcohol in the US.
He explained in an interview with America’s GQ magazine: “You know why I didn’t go? Because they were having it in a bar. It was wrong. It was for 21 years old and up. all them people, they all wanted me to fly out so that then when all the bad press came they could say, ‘Daddy endorsed this stuff.’ I started realising I’m being used.
‘After the incident with the legal high, her handlers told me it was none of my business.
“I should have said, ‘Enough is enough – it’s getting dangerous and somebody’s going to get hurt’.
Honestly, I didn’t know the ball was out of bounds until it was way up in the stands somewhere.”
Miley shot to fame on Disney TV show ‘Hannah Montana’ with Billy Ray, 49, playing her father but he admitted he wishes the programme had ‘never happened’ because of the impact it had on his family life.
He said: “The damn show destroyed my family. I hate to say it, but I’d take it back in a second.’
The singer also admitted he thinks his relationship with Miley could be improved, saying their communication is ‘good enough to know it could be a lot better.”
Prince William and Kate Middleton are unwittingly driving people to go to ante up an island’s tourism. After rumors that the engaged couple are planning to spend their honeymoon in the Isles of Scilly have emerged, the island’s tourism website garnered 78,000 hits last week, nearly three times its normal traffic. According to BBC, people from around the U.K., mainland Europe and the U.S. are suddenly interested in knowing more about the island. Downloads of the official holiday brochure have doubled as well.
Tourism officials still don’t know if the spike in the website hits will translate to actual bookings, but told the U.K. paper that they are still pleased that the interest in their area has increased.
As to why it was thought that the 28-year-old royalty will take his bride to Scilly, it’s because he spent a family holiday on the island in 1989 with his parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana and brother Harry.
William and Kate will tie the knot on April 29 at the Westminster Abbey.
Lindsay Lohan may dodge another jail sentence now that the judge who threatened her jail for probation violation is no longer handling her case. Her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley says the recovering addict’s case in Beverly Hills has been transfer to the LAX courthouse. Judge Fox, who told Lindsay that she would head back to jail if she committed any probation violation, is no longer involved in the case, which has been transferred to Judge Keith Schwartz, another judge who sent her to jail just recently.
Holley told our source, “Beverly Hills case has been transferred to the LAX courthouse and will, from this point forward, be handled by the judge [Schwartz] who is handling the new case.”
“It is customary for alleged probation violations to ‘trail’ – or follow behind – the new case.”
And while Lindsay is facing felony grand theft for allegedly shoplifting a $2,500 necklace, Holley is confident that there’s no there’s no reason why Schwartz should send the actress to prison.
She continued, “If the new case is meritless, as we believe it is, then there is no basis upon which to violate Ms. Lohan’s probation.”
Lindsay will appear in front of Judge Schwartz on February 23 to face her theft charge

Justin Bieber thinks he is ‘nuts’. The 16-year-old pop star suffers from insomnia and can’t stop himself from thinking about his loved ones, career and ‘God’ when his head hits the pillow at night, but believes his problems are a sign of his talent. He said: ”m crazy, I’m nuts. Just the way my brain works. I’m not normal. I think differently – my mind is always racing. I’m just . nuts. But I think the best musicians probably are. ‘ just turn over all night and think. My mind races. I think about all the things I didn’t have time to think about during the day – like family and God and things that should be more important but you don’t have time to think about, because you just get caught up in everything else during the day.’ Justin is enjoying his worldwide success but he accepts his fame comes at a price and he knows he can’t just to whatever he wants and has a responsibility to his fans. He explained to the February edition of Vanity Fair magazine: ‘t’s hard to really balance myself. A regular kid, if he catches the flu, he just gets to go home. But I can’t do that . Everything is important. But, you know, my sanity is important, too. Even if I’m angry, I’ll just put a smile on my face and fake it. I don’t often fake it – what’s me is me. I know I have to give up a lot of myself, or a lot of a private life.’ Despite the problems his singing career cause him, the ‘Baby’ singer won’t ever give up on his career and plans to push himself as far as he can. He said: ‘ see myself just growing. I didn’t know that any of this was really possible. I grew up in a really small town with not a lot of money, and I liked singing, but it was just something that was a hobby. As I get into it more, I want to grow as an artist, as an entertainer, and basically perfect my craft. I want to be the best that I can be.’
