T.I. Ordered To Spend 11 Months In Jail For Parole Violation. Rapper T.I. may have been a hero after he helped save a suicidal man’s life last week, but that didn’t have any weight in court. The 30-year-old hip-hop star has been sentenced to 11 months in jail for violating his probation. T.I., real name Clifford Harris, spent several months in an Arkansas prison for federal weapons charges until December 2009, and was moved into a halfway house in Atlanta, where he spent time until March this year.
He was still on probation when he, along with his wife Tiny, was arrested on September 1 on suspicion of possessing ecstasy in Los Angeles. On Friday’s hearing, T.I. begged U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell not to send him back to prison, admitting that he needs help for his addiction. But the judge refused the request, saying the rapper “had about the limit of second chances.” T.I. was ordered to serve 11 months in jail, and will be subject to a year of supervised release. He is expected to surrender on November 1. Last week, T.I. helped talk a suicidal man out of jumping from a building. Atlanta police said his voluntary involvement was crucial in saving the man’s life.
