Stephenie Meyer’s “Bree Tanner” Sold Over A Million Copies In The U.S.. “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella” by “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer has sold over a million copies in the U.S. alone. The novella has already become the biggest selling new book of the year following its release on June 5th. As what was promised, for every book sold in the U.S. from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response fund, resulting in over a million dollars donation to the charity. Senior VP of international services with the American Red Cross, David Meltzer, said, “The generosity of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, Stephenie Meyer and the one million fans who purchased the novella is both awe inspiring and humbling.”"Their collective support will help the American Red Cross respond to international crises, prevent life-threatening diseases, prepare for disasters overseas and provide support to help those in need around the world.” The book, about the story of a newborn vampire first introduced in “Eclipse,” has also been read over 75,000 times on Meyer’s website
Summit is trying to avoid its own twilight
It didn’t take long for Hollywood’s newest movie studio, Summit Entertainment, to reach a crossroads. The 2 1/2 -year-old company, riding high on the teen vampire phenomenon “Twilight,” is hoping to leverage that success and avoid a premature demise that has befallen many mini-studios. While market pressures are forcing rivals to retrench by slashing overhead and reducing the number of films they make, Summit wants to go the other way: expand and increase its output of content. Start-ups are difficult even in flush times. But Summit’s planscome at a perilous juncture for Hollywood’s majors, roiled by declining DVD sales that have undercut movie profits and monumental changes in technology that are reshaping how people watch entertainment. Other independents, such as MGM and Weinstein Co., are scrambling to stay in business, while several studio-owned specialty film labels have ceased operating.

Summit Entertainment has precious time to waste as its popular “Twilight” Personalities speed towards completion of their latest film projects to bring an “Eclipse” to light. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are scheduled to return their “Twilight” personas of Bella Swan, Edward Culen and Jacob Black on August 17, which is when “Eclipse” has been scheduled to begin production in Vancouver, British Columbia. The third book in the wildly popular series created by Stephenie Meyer, “Eclipse” is scheduled to be completed around October 31 or Halloween appropriately enough. Director David Slade will be adding fresh blood to the film series by helming “Eclipse,” which has been written by Melissa Rosenberg (“Dexter”), who adapted the first two books in the series. “Eclipse” is expected to hit screens on June 30, 2010. “New Moon,” the eagely awaited second installment, is set for a November 20th opening.
