Once popular music band “Spice Girls” may reunite to participate at the international song contest “Eurovision-2012″ in Baku. Western and Russian media reported that former member of the group Geri Halliwell put up a proposal to reunite the girls, and join the contest.
Halliwell thinks that the reunited “Spice Girls” will be able to do what “Blue” could not. Note that Blue brought the 11th place to the Great Britain at the previous contest.
Azerbaijani singers Eldar Gasymov and Nigar Jamal won the “Eurovision-2011″ contest, and thus the 2012 song contest will take place in Azerbaijani capital of Baku..
The singer – who famously quit the group in 1998 before they all got back together for a world tour in 2007 – thinks they should appear at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 summer games, as it will help put British music back on the map.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “The Spice Girls are part of me and always will be. If it happened and felt natural and right, then I’m always open to singing with the other girls.
“Singing at the Games is a great idea and would be an amazing opportunity – and it’s a sign the Brits are back. This is our time. Everything is circular and now there’s a British pop revival.
“It needs to put itself back on the map on a world stage. This is our opportunity to show that British music, which has led and dominated the world, should do, always.”
While the Spice Girls – also made up of Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton – are one of the acts in the frame to appear at the opening ceremony, indie band Coldplay are said to have been approached to perform an especially written anthem, ‘Welcome Song’.
Other singers considered to appear include Joss Stone, rockers Muse and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn.
The former Spice Girl has a two-year-old daughter Scarlet with her property developer partner Thomas Starr and she insists having a child freed her always worrying about herself and her career. She said: ‘Being a mum has made me a better person. I’m really mellow, more confident and more unselfish. ‘Before Scarlet, especially working in such an appearance-conscious profession, everything was about me, me, me. It was all, ‘I’ve got to go to the gym, I’ve got to take care of myself and wear nice clothes.’
‘t’s a relief to have somebody else who becomes your priority. In a way it takes the pressure off you as an individual. It makes you so much happier and she’s made me feel more confident.’
Mel, 37, now can’t remember her life before Scarlet and is still staggered by how much happiness the little girl has brought to her and 43-year-old Thomas.
She added: ”m truly having a ball now this little person is in my life. She gives me so much joy but it has really surprised me how much having her has affected and changed me.’
Three of Mel’s former Spice Girls bandmates are currently pregnant. Mel B is having her third child; Victoria Beckham who is having her fourth child with husband David Beckham; and Emma Bunton, who is expecting her second child with her fiance Jade Jones.
The former Spice Girls singer ‘ who has designed a range of swimwear for high street retailer Next ‘ has seen her weight fluctuate over the years but insists she is finally comfortable with herself. She said: ‘ don’t follow strict diets because I don’t believe in them. ”ve yo-yoed like everyone else, but I finally feel comfortable with the way I am. I designed my new bikinis to appeal to every woman, whether they’re a size 8 or 16.’ Geri ‘ who has a four-year-old daughter Bluebell Madonna from a previous relationship – recently claimed the way her shape has fluctuated has made her understand women’s bodies more. Speaking about her swimwear line, she said: “I’ve been all sorts of shapes and sizes to I know the importance of flattering shapes and styles. “There are a lot of big-busted women who want to look sexy, not frumpy, so I looked at the structure of cups that could lift boobs but still feel comfortable. “For a great bust line, the contour at the top edge of a bikini has to be just right. And for those who need a little help, I’ve also designed some bikini tops with padding.”
The Spice Girls musical storyline yet to be revealed. Mel B ‘ who was joined in the group by Mel C, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham ‘ has revealed producer Judy Craymer is currently working on the plot for the show, tentatively titled ‘Viva Forever’, after speaking to all the girls individually. Speaking at the launch of her new computer game ‘Get Fit With Mel B’ in conjunction with Black Bean Games, she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ‘The musical is coming out in 2012. We don’t know anything creatively just yet, because they are still in the middle of creating the whole storyline. ‘Judy Craymer took down all of the Spice Girls’ stories and she is going to create the story she wants to go with. So we don’t know what angle she is going for yet.’ The 35-year-old singer also revealed she doesn’t plan to make a cameo in the production. Asked about making an appearance, she said: ‘No. A musical is like, well, it’s about me so I wouldn’t get involved in it on that level.’ Craymer ‘ who produced ‘Mamma Mia!’ ‘ has previously promised the musical will be a very ‘exciting’ show. She said: ‘t is important to me that the excitement, style and humour of the Spice Girls is well represented on stage. ‘ want to create a unique celebration of the band and its music, with its own flavour and joyful message.’
Mel B considers the Spice Girls the ‘loves of her life’. The ‘Wannabe’ hitmaker ‘ who is married to Stephen Belafonte and has two daughters, Phoenix, 11, and Angel, three, from previous relationships ‘ has always been closer to her former bandmates Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Mel C than anyone else, even when they have clashed. She said: ”ve had affairs with all the Spice Girls as far as I’m concerned – they’re the loves of my life. ‘We are always in touch with each other. We’re supportive of each other because we’ve known each other a long time. When we were younger, it was five girls who had our periods together, so we screamed at each other, but we all made up afterwards.’ And Mel ‘ known as ‘Scary Spice’ during her time in the girl group – will never rule out another Spice Girls reunion after having so much fun with the group during their original formation between 1995 and 2000 and again at their 2007 concerts. The 35-year-old star said: ‘The first time we did it, it was sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll and the last time it was all nappies and dummies. ‘But I got to travel the world with my four best friends. What could be any better than that?’ The quintet’s music is set to be the focus of a new musical ‘Viva Forever’, and Mel would love to see a film spin-off. Speaking about the musical, the singer – who starred in 1997 movie ‘Spiceworld’ with her bandmates ‘ added: ‘ don’t know yet if it’s going to be based on our real stories or a fabricated story. We’ve talked about 20,000 different storylines, but it’s down to five and we’ll all have to agree. There are no plans for a movie yet, but that would be great.’
Victoria Beckham gives her friends style advice. The singer-turned-fashion designer has thrilled her pals with how well her new career is going and delights in sharing her knowledge and expert tips. Her former Spice Girls bandmate Emma Bunton ‘ who was recently pictured wearing one of her pal’s creations – revealed: ‘ chose it myself and I love it. Victoria’s dresses always make you feel so stylish. I am so lucky to have a great friend who designs wonderful outfits! She is an amazing designer. ‘t is so difficult to go from music and do something else and there is real pressure, but it’s worked out so brilliantly for her. ‘She has given me her advice before and told me to keep it classic.’ Emma ‘ who was also joined in the group by Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Mel C ‘ also spoke of how much she enjoys spending time with her former bandmates’ children. She added: ‘t was so nice on the last tour. I had just had my son Beau at the time. Mel C hadn’t had Scarlet at that point and she spent a lot of time with Beau. And so when I found out she was pregnant, I was so pleased. We all go, ‘Look at us with our bubbas!’ ‘ However, the quintet don’t pass on parenting advice to one another. Emma added: ‘Do we swap tips? No, we are gossiping girls!’

The latest data from PRS data suggests that the longevity of the top acts is a factor in this. Between them, the top acts in 2008 have around 200 years of touring experience. More than ever, consumers want to see the legends of the industry in the flesh. This suggests that the value of touring will only continue to grow.”
The value of tours has increased steadily from £251m in 2005, to £297m (2006), £311m (2007) and £403m (2008).

GERI HALLIWELL said she is not planning to return to the charts anytime soon. The former Spice Girl said she wants to concentrate on her career as a children’s author instead. Speaking to Red magazine, she said it was time for younger talent to take the reins and step into her shoes. She said: “Everybody has their moment and their time. Let somebody else have a crack at it. There are younger people around now. “I didn’t want to have to stay young in order to sell records. And I didn’t want to have to rely on my looks.” But she added: “I don’t want to say never, though. Who knows? I could do a record when I’m 60.” Halliwell, 36, also told the magazine that she is in talks to turn her Ugenia Lavender books into a cartoon series. She said: “We all have talents and we should use them. It’s nice to be able to contribute to the world. I’m a natural communicator, a storyteller.”
Geri Halliwell has imposed a year-long “man ban” on herself. The 36-year-old former Spice Girls singer – who called off her engagement to Italian millionaire Fabrizio Politi two weeks ago – has decided to take a break from dating so she can resolve her phobia of commitment. A friend told Britain’s Heat magazine: “Even though she initiated it, Geri is gutted over her break-up with Fabrizio. She feels like a failure in the romance department, so she says she’s going to take a year off from dating. “She’s going to do some serious self-examination and figure out the root of her commitment issues. She is prepared to go a full year without a man in her life.” Geri – who has a two-year-old daughter Bluebell from her previous relationship with screenwriter Sacha Gervasi – got engaged to Fabrizio, 34, shortly after they met last December, but soon decided she would rather be on her own. A source said: “Geri woke up one morning last week and decided she just wasn’t the marrying type. “She loved being in a relationship but decided that all she needs is her daughter Bluebell to keep her happy. Fabrizio is upset but totally respects Geri’s wishes.”
