Gabourey Sidibe Shows Off Funny Side In “SNL” Promos. Gabourey Sidibe is already bringing the funny with her “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig, but the episode hasn’t even aired. Instead, the new promos show a different, gun-wielding side to the “Precious” star. Promoting her appearance on this Saturday’s “SNL,” she appears with cast member Andy Samberg In a series of four TV spots, available for online viewing and airing now through Saturday. In two of the clips, Sidibe and Samberg get cozy, while in the other two, Samberg is left screaming. “It’s okay. Take off your pants,” Sidibe urges Samberg after he reveals he too was called “Precious” in school. In another clip, Sidibe jokes she gets mistaken for Bruce Willis a lot, whipping out a gun on Samberg and yelling John Mcclane’s famous “Yippee-ki-yay” line from “Die Hard.” Sidibe’s shown her goofy side since she’s hit the talk show circuit and awards show red carpets promoting her very serious Oscar-nominated turn in “Precious.” The 26-year-old hosts “Saturday Night Live” for the first time Saturday, April 24th. MGMT is the musical guest.
”Parks And Recreation” Production Date Moving Up For Amy Poehler’s Pregnancy Amy Poehler’s pregnancy will not be affecting her NBC show. The former “Saturday Night Live” star has just recently announced that she is expecting her second child with husband Will Arnett. The baby is set to join 16-month-old big brother Archie. NBC and Universal Media Studios are now moving up the production for the third season of the comedy series, which would mean production on the season will start immediately after season two wraps up, Variety said. Fans Campaigning On Facebook To Have Betty White To Host “SNL” Hundreds of thousands of fans want Betty White to host “Saturday Night Live.” A Facebook page is calling for the NBC sketch comedy to ask the 88-year-old “Golden Girl” to host the show. Although White has been in the showbiz industry for eight decades, she has never hosted the show, which is often considered as a rite of passage for comedians. She was already an accomplished performer even before “SNL” first hit the air. The Facebook page reads: “This is a page to encourage both Betty White AND Saturday Night Live that Betty would be a FANTASTIC choice to host SNL.” “Betty White will turn 88 years old on January 17, 2010. She is universally known and admired.” “In 2010, Betty will be entering her EIGHTH-DECADE in show-business. What a way to honor her, as well as entertain countless millions of people the world over who adore her as an actress, as a tireless animal rights advocate, and as a fanastic [sic] comedian!”
The “Betty White to Host SNL (please?)!” page currently has 324,327 fans as of the time of writing.
