Emma Watson Debuts New Cropped Do, Dropped As Face Of Burberry. “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson has debuted a cropped do. The 20-year-old British actress has posted her newly chopped locks on her Facebook page, amid reports that she has been replaced as the face of the luxury fashion brand Burberry. Perhaps it’s because she has finished shooting the last film in the “Harry Potter” series that Emma felt she has the freedom to cut her hair now since she’s no longer playing the bushy-haired Hermione Granger. The androgynous haircut gives her quite a transformation, but it still looks feminine and dainty on her. Meanwhile, Emma has reportedly been replaced by new “Transformers” actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as the face of Burberry. According to our source, Rosie will now front the ads for the brand’s autumn and winter collection, edging Emma out of the picture despite the fact that she has been credited with boosting the sales of the label during her year-long association with them.A Burberry spokesman told our source that while they have a new model, they have not ruled out using Emma again in the future.
Daniel Radcliffe Starring In Horror Flick “Woman In Black”. Now that the last of the “Harry Potter” films have wrapped up shooting, Daniel Radcliffe is free to shoot other films. Everyone’s favorite boy wizard will be starring in the film adaptation of “The Woman in Black.” The film, based on Susan Hill’s popular horror novel and written by Jane Goldman, centers on Arthur Kipps, a young attorney who is summoned to a remote town to sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. While alone in an old, isolated house, he begins to unravel its secrets concerning a woman in black who mysteriously appears. Radcliffe, 20, will play Kipps. He said, “I am incredibly excited to be part of ‘The Woman in Black.’ Jane Goldman’s script is beautifully written – both tender and terrifying in equal measure.” “The Woman in Black” will be directed by James Watkins.
Daniel Radcliffe thought Justin Bieber was a girl. The ‘Harry Potter’ actor has been so busy working he has failed to keep up with the current music scene and has now given up trying to know what is popular. He said: ‘I’m so out of the loop when it comes to pop culture that I kind of don’t even try anymore. Only heard Justin Bieber for the first time two weeks ago. I genuinely thought it was a woman singing. I’d never heard it before.’ While the 21-year-old star admits to being clueless about current music, he could soon be a chart rival to Justin after admitting he has been having singing lessons and honing his vocal talents by singing in karaoke bars with his ‘Harry Potter’ co-stars. He told MTV News: “I love karaoke. I am one of those people [who says], ‘No, no, I can’t, I couldn’t possibly, no I won’t… all right, give me the mic!’ And then I’m elbowing other people out of the way to get to the stage.’ Speaking about a recent karaoke night, he added: ‘I sang Elvis Presley’s ‘Hound Dog.’ That, and then I did ‘Feeling Good’ by Muse. That was my proudest moment, because I actually did that rather well. I was really pleased, because I can sing. ‘I’ve been having singing lessons for two and a half years. I’m not amazing, obviously, but I’m all right.”
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and the rest of the cast of the blockbuster “Harry Potter” series were on hand for the grand opening celebration of the highly-anticipated new addition to the Universal Orlando Resort, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Warwick Davis, who plays Professor Flitwick, conducted a performance by the Frog Choir of Hogwarts. Film composer John Williams, best known for scoring the unforgettable themes to films like “Jurassic Park,” “Star Wars,” and the “Harry Potter” films, led the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra into compositions from the “Harry Potter” soundtracks. “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling was also in attendance and walked down the red carpet into the theme park. She worked closely with the members of Universal Creative and engineers to create the new themed land, including the signature “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” attraction, as well as the taste of Butterbeer, and merchandising. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, located within Universal’s acclaimed Islands of Adventure theme park, officially opens to guests today, June 18th.
Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint is recovering from a “mild bout” of swine flu, his publicist has said. Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, took a few days off filming but has now returned to the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. And he is well enough to attend the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in London on Tuesday. “He has now recovered and is looking forward to joining his fellow cast members,” his publicist said. No Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince review will stop it at the box office, as Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince reviews are for the definition of a critic-proof film. But the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Reviews Among Best in SeriesHarry Potter and the Half Blood Prince reviews should help Potter fans to get more hyped up, or to lower their expectations. Many a Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince review hails it as the best in the series, though other reviews say it is just a time filler. However, the vast majority of reviews do come down on the positive side. In fact, the review total for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the most positive one of the series on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince has 94% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and is the first of the Harry Potter series to go over 90%. The previous high marks were set by Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire. Many Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince reviews are raves, praising the movie for its increased darkness, its themes of teenaged love and growing up, and its tragedy. Director David Yates is said to have improved over his debut in Order of the Phoenix, which had a mere 77% positive review count on Rotten Tomatoes. Young actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are again praised for their chemistry as Harry, Ron and Hermione. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince also once again brings half of the British screen actors guild together, though only a few have anything to do – but those few, like Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman and Harry Potter newcomer Jim Broadbent – are also heavily praised in reviews. The Rotten Tomatoes consensus for the Half Blood Prince reviews reads “Dark, thrilling, and occasionally quite funny, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is also visually stunning and emotionally satisfying.” However, not every positive review is a rave. There are some Half Blood Prince reviews that are more reserved, saying that the film is too talky, that the romantic angle takes up too much time, and nothing really happens until the big finale.
Harry Potter fans appear to be eagerly anticipating the release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” More than 1,000 showtimes are sold out from San Francisco to New York, starting with its mid-night showing, Tuesday (July 14). In fact it could surpass vampire hit “Twilight” as the third fastest sellout in the history of online ticketer Fandango. There’s a strong showing of “Twilight” fans among advance ticketholders. Almost half of those polled, (42 percent) say they are also ardent fans of the vampire saga, which features Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. The New Harry Potter movie, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint has already blown past “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Iron Man” and the HBO-based “Sex and the City” movie at the same point in the sales cycle, says Fandango. The top-selling ticket is “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” followed by the latest in the batman series, “The Dark Knight.” They occupy the No. 1 and No 2 spots, respectively. “Harry is tracking to match last year’s juggernaut, ‘The Dark Knight,’ in advance ticket sales,” says Rick Butler, Chief Operating Officer of Fandango, which sells tickets to more than 16,000 screens and can be purchased through TheImproper.com’s film page. “Showtimes are selling out at a very fast pace, and it’s clear that the film’s wider blockbuster appeal, solid word-of-mouth and positive Internet buzz on Half-Blood Prince are helping fuel the demand,” he added. Theater owners are scrambling to add additional showtimes throughout the witching hours on Wednesday morning. Of those who are buying tickets, 63 percent are female and 62 percent who plan to see it at midnight will go with a group, according to a Fandango survey of more than 3,000 prospective moviegoers. The latest Harry Potter release is likely to make it the most successful franchise in Hollywood history. To date, it has grossed $4.5 billion, or an average of $897 million, at the box office. The franchise is just behind the much longer running James Bond series, but should overtake Agent 007 once Half-Blood Prince debuts. These days the box office is only one piece of the pie. DVD sales account for $2.7 billion in sales, the equivalent of more than 211 million units, although a slump in the DVD market may hurt the latest film’s performance. More than $1 billion in video games, amounting to more than 40 million units have been sold while Warner Bros also makes hundreds of millions of dollars from merchandise and other sales such as downloads on iTunes. After the DVD is released later this year of the Half-Blood Prince, it will be followed by a Lego video game based on Harry, Ron and Hermione’s first four years at Hogwarts, due in 2010, while a theme park The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, is due to open in Orlando, Florida in spring 2010. As daunting as the Potter juggernaut is, it still trails George Lucas’s Star Wars franchise, which has generated more than $20 billion thanks to steady stream of toys, video games and other spin-offs.
