Kendra’s fiancé teaching her how to shoot gun

Posted in: Coffee Talk, Models by newsdesk on April 8, 2024

Former Playboy bunny Kendra Wilkinson has revealed that her fiance Hank Baskett has been teaching her how to shoot a gun these days. The former ‘Girls Next Door’ star and the Philadelphia Eagles player went to a shooting range on April 3 for some target practice.

“Hank and i went to the shooting range the other day so that he could teach me how to shoot a gun, or two or three hahaha,” Us magazine quoted Kendra as writing on her blog.

And Hugh Hefner’s ex-girlfriend also joked that she was ‘definitely a pro now’, and even said it was an important skill to learn. “I think its so important that every woman learn self defense. Plus, it’s fun,” she wrote.

Wilkinson said that she posted photos of herself, which included “pics of me working the rifle and of Hank showing me how its done!” The couple will get married on June 27 at the Playboy mansion.

Kendra Wilkinson exemplifies the image of a down-to-earth tomgirl who found herself in the right place at the right time, and is now living the dream of many American girls.

Wilkinson, grew up in San Diego, Calif. and attended Clairemont High School, located five miles north of metropolitan San Diego. The future Playmate was working as a dental assistant in her hometown when Playboy founder Hugh Hefner happened to stumble upon a photograph of her that had been sent to his mansion. Wilkinson had been asked by a friend to attend Hefner’s 78th birthday party as a body-painted party girl, and when Hefner saw her photograph, he knew he had seen something special.

The Playboy mogul and the sports-loving tom girl met for the first time at his birthday party, and Wilkinson moved into the mansion as one of Hefner’s girlfriends shortly after. Wilkinson soon became a star of “The Girls Next Door,” a reality television series which premiered in August of 2005 on E! (Entertainment Television). The series, which is the brainchild of executive producer Kevin Burns and Hugh Hefner himself, focuses on the lives of Hefner’s three girlfriends who live with him at the Playboy Mansion. To celebrate the enormous success of the television series, Playboy published a special nude pictorial of Holly, Bridget, and Kendra in their November 2005 issue. The original eight-episode run of the series was expanded into a 15 episode series due to the positive audience reaction. A second season has been confirmed to begin airing in August, and will feature exciting events in the lives of the Playmates such as the celebration of Kendra’s 21st birthday and a trip to San Diego. The DVD of the first season of the show will soon be released as well.

In addition to starting in a hit television series, Wilkinson has also made many television show guest appearances on programs such as “The Tyra Banks Show” and “The Late Night Show with Craig Ferguson.” She even appeared in the smash parody film “Scary Movie 4.” Massage school has been consuming much of Wilkinson’s time lately, and she hopes to soon fulfill her dream of becoming a sports massage therapist or a sports announcer. The entertainment world has just begun to experience Kendra Wilkinson, for much more is sure to come of this beautiful Playmate.

Are the Golden Globe Awards the Stupidest Movie Prizes Ever?

Posted in: Film by newsdesk on January 12, 2025

Don’t get me wrong I love the Golden Globes TV show. You can see it this Sunday on NBC. What other awards telecast sits dressed-to-thrill stars at tables and serves up booze in large quantities prompting loose lips and the delicious possibility of embarrassing acceptance speeches? But, my God, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that distributes these globe-shaped dildos has for sixty six years now been perpetrating a scam that would make Bernie Madoff blush. The 82 voting members of this organization (the Academy has 6000) have had their credentials challenged year after year. Very few members are full-time journalists. The skinny is that they’re in it for the parties and the movie stars and, of course, the annual network TV show which nets them a tasty $6 million. The Globes are notorious for boneheaded decisions. Here are my nominees for their worst calls this year:

-No nomination for Milk, The Dark Knight and The Wrestler as Best Drama, but they find room for The Reader—what’s that all about?

-Clint Eastwood gets ignored for a career-capping performance in Gran Torino, but Brad Pitt makes the cut in Ben Button for having his face digitally painted on small people. Huh? To add insult to injury, the Globes have a comedy category yet pass on Pitt for his real best acting this year in Burn After Reading.

-Tropic Thunder gets ignored for Best Movie Comedy in favor of—get ready—the egregiously unfunny Mamma Mia!

-Here’s my biggest beef with the Globes (I’d enjoy hearing yours): To stock the audiences with stars who draw TV ratings—Brangelina, Kate & Leo—they ignore non-glam actors who deliver truthful performances. Nowhere among the Globe nominees this year are:

Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) and Benicio Del Toro (Che) as Best Actor

Melissa Leo (Frozen River) and Michelle Williams (Wendy and Lucy) as Best Actress

Josh Brolin (Milk), Eddie Marsan (Happy Go Lucky) and Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) as Best Supporting Actor

Rosemary DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married) and Elsa Zylberstein (I’ve Loved You So Long) as Best Supporting Actress

Get yourself in the tabloids, people, that’s the true path to a Golden Globe.

Shelter (2007)

Posted in: Film by Jason Halliwell on December 15, 2024

There are “sleeper” films, and then there is Shelter. This small indie film received a very limited theatrical release in the spring of 2007 with a television debut on the subscription-only here! network only a month later. And suddenly, it was all anyone could talk about. Plenty of folks deemed it “the gay surfer movie,” but it’s ultimately as much about surfing as Brokeback Mountain is about animal husbandry. Instead, Shelter is a riveting family drama and a story of first gay love set in a working class world. Starring Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss’s Brad Rowe in a career-reviving performance and newcomer Trevor Wright, there are no gay bars in Shelter, no drugs, no drag queens, no circuit anthems, no gay-bashings, no AIDS scares, and no screaming parents to speak of. And we gay folks loved it anyway. Or maybe, because it was so fresh and different, that’s why we loved it.

Original album propelled band to superstardum; lots of goodies in new take. Pearl Jam has unearthed a host of unreleased tracks and special surprises from its vaults for a reissue of its 1991 debut album, “Ten.” Four different editions will be available March 24 from its former Epic Records label; pre-orders begin Wednesday at PearlJam.com. Each version includes a digitally remastered version of the original album as well as a new remix of the set by longtime producer Brendan O’Brien, who did not work on “Ten” but produced Pearl Jam’s subsequent four albums. Bassist Jeff Ament and designer Andy Fischer teamed to revamp the artwork.

Taylor Swift Songs Promote Romance, Not Sex

Posted in: Coffee Talk by Jason Halliwell on December 10, 2024

It’s official. Sex isn’t all that, but romance is. This, according to a recent story in the Boston Globe. The author cites Taylor Swift as part of a step in the right direction because of her anti-Britney, anti-Christina, anti-hypersexualized ways. And because of songs that suggest there’s more to romance than sex. The story also gives Swift a shout-out for representing “a radical departure from the last wave of teen icons, whose seductive looks and lyrics encouraged girls, like all teenagers, impatient to grow up, to hurry it up.” Amen. Even a recent poll on glamour.com found that 75 percent of women believe in soul mates. So if it’s romance young women want, then they should be adding more country music to their playlists. Despite some of their black leather attire, Kellie Pickler and Martina McBride have plenty of songs about wholesome love. And Julianne Hough is another example of a star who’s singing about the kind of falling-in-love stories that young girls really dream about. (As opposed to the raunchy one night stands boys wished girls dreamed about.)

Should 14-Year-Olds Be Allowed to Have Sex Legally?

Posted in: Coffee Talk by Jason Halliwell on December 9, 2024

According to a recent Fox News report, a new law in Indiana makes it legal for teenagers to have sex so long as they’re no more than 4 years apart in age. Public Law 216 creates a legal defense, nicknamed the “Romeo and Juliet defense,” against charges of sexual misconduct with a minor. The law went into effect July 1.

“The change in the law decriminalizes consensual sex among teenagers in a dating relationship if they are within four years age difference,” said Larry Landis, executive director of the Indiana Public Defender Council.
