Manolo Blahnik Shows Off Sketching Skills On “The Martha Stewart” Show. Manolo Blahnik, shoe designer of “Sex and the City” fame, was mentioned – and appeared – on another TV show. The founder of his self-named, high-end shoe brand was a guest on “The Martha Stewart Show” last  Friday. Blahnik reportedly hates the term “muse,” but it seemed as though host Martha Stewart was his on the show. He demonstrated his design process of sketching a one-of-a-kind shoe in front of a live studio audience on canvas with paint. After the spontaneous sketch, Stewart asked him what the inspiration was behind the sketch of a brown high heel. “You. And the show and food,” he said. Blahnik’s food inspiration came in the form of the milkshakes Stewart and he made, reportedly an obsession of Blahnik’s, when he and Martha created two different shakes, Coconut-Chocolate and Salted Caramel Pecan. The shoe designer also talked about growing up and how he got his start in the shoe business. He started sketching shoes when he was about six or seven years old, he told Stewart, and his mother also made her own shoes. “During the war, my mommy didn’t get the things that she liked so she made herself (espadrilles),” Blahnik said.”So she was very, very sort of crafty in that way.” He also told Stewart the engineering behind making his shoes. “(Engineering) takes a long time. Shoes are different than dresses in a sense that shoes takes a lot of months to do technically. To get the heel correct.” “I can imagine,” Stewart responded. “Just figuring out how the heel can bear the weight of a 130-pound woman, right? It’s amazing.”

Martha Stewart, Brendan Fraser Go “Tricking And Treating” On New Halloween Special. Halloween is just a month away and Martha Stewart is getting ready to premiere her brand new primetime special dedicated to the holiday filled tips for the best tricks and treats Martha-style. “Tricking and Treating with Martha Stewart” will feature crafting everything from costumes, to home decorations, party ideas, and even recipes for Halloween-themed foods, including spiders viewers will want to have a bite of. Of course, Martha won’t be celebrating alone. She’s brought along a very special guest, Brendan Fraser of “The Mummy” films, to help. He’ll also be mummified by the domestic diva herself when they both prep an easy Mummy costume from scratch. “Halloween is one of my very, very favorite times of year,” Stewart told AHN earlier this month. She also said Fraser is “the perfect celebrity for Halloween and the stuff we do is just extraordinary and it’s going to be a smashing hit.” Martha’s one-hour primetime special, “Tricking and Treating with Martha Stewart,” premieres Sunday, October 10 at 9pm ET/PT, 8pmC on Hallmark Channel.
