Lady Gaga Was 2010's Magazine Cover Bestseller.
Lady Gaga Was 2010′s Magazine Cover Bestseller. Lady Gaga was the past year’s safest bet for magazine editors. The Grammy Award-winning hitmaker sold the most issues of magazines in 2010, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations. The numbers, obtained by our source, did not cover the whole year, but just until November for Conde Nast magazines and October for Hearst titles. But through the end of September, it was clearly Gaga’s year on print as she sold the most issues for magazines she graced the cover on. She was Rolling Stone’s top-selling issue when she appeared on its July 8 cover in a thong with two automatic weapons. It sold 245,000 copies, nearly three times better than its 2010 average. She was also Cosmopolitan’s top seller, selling 1.7 million copies during its April issue.”The Fame” hitmaker’s September cover was the second bestseller of Vanity Fair, behind only Angelina Jolie, selling 450,000 copies, which is more than 80,000 better than its average. Elle magazine also scored its third bestseller of the year through October when they featured the singer on their January cover. Our source also reports that Rihanna was a newsstand hit. Her GQ magazine January cover became the second bestseller of the year through November, while her August Seventeen cover was the top seller through the end of October. However, the “Only Girl (In the World)” singer underperformed when her July Elle cover sold just 285,000 copies, a little below average for the magazine. Meanwhile, it was an unfortunate issue for the magazines who chose Taylor Swift to grace their cover. The country pop sweetheart gave Elle magazine its worst selling issue of the year when she appeared on its April cover. Her Glamour cover for November didn’t also work. It was the magazine’s second worst seller, while her July Marie Claire cover was the third worst for the magazine.

More about supermodel Adriana Lima.

supermodel Adriana Lima
Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima is largely recognized as the face of Victoria’s Secret. The 5’10″ model was born in 1982 in Salvador, Brazil, and has a mix of French, Portuguese, Native American and Caribbean roots. Lima was discovered at a mall when she was just 13 years old. Two years later she received a first place award in a “Ford Supermodel of Brazil” model search. In 1996 she finished second place in a “Ford Supermodel of the World” contest. Shortly after, Lima decided to advance her career by moving to New York City and signing on with Elite Model Management. She appeared in international editions of Vogue and Marie Claire magazines in 1997-98 and did some runway work. But her big break occurred when she was featured in her underwear in a billboard for Vassarette in Times Square. She then became a Guess? model and graced the covers of Harper’s Bazaar and Elle. Lima’s foray into Victoria’s Secret began with runway work in 2000. She was also the show opener for the 2003 fashion show. In her spare time, the supermodel focuses on the Caminos Da Luz orphanage in Bahia, her native hometown in Brazil. To stay fit, Lima practices Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that combines dance, music, and choreographed fighting. [nggallery id=2]
