Steven Tyler is joining ‘American Idol’ as a judge. The Aerosmith singer let slip his role on the pop star search show following a concert in Las Vegas on last Saturday night. When asked what his future plans were, Tyler, 62, said: ‘Recording an album and I’m probably going to be judge on ‘American Idol’.’ He later added: ”m doing it. What do you think? I’m doing it.’ Despite his claims, ‘American Idol’ bosses are yet to confirm the ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ rocker’s appointment. Tyler’s claim comes after Ellen DeGeneres quit ‘American Idol’, and Kara DioGuardi was fired as part of a shake-up of the series following head judge Simon Cowell’s departure. It is believed the show will return to having just three judges, with Jennifer Lopez joining Tyler and the remaining original judge Randy Jackson.  “Sources connected with the ‘American Idol’ negotiations tell our source Kara DioGuardi has judged her last contestant on ‘American Idol’ – because she’s been fired. “We’re told the show will be going back to a three-judge format and assuming all deals are finalised, the judge’s panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.’ Singer-and-actress Lopez has reportedly been in talks with show boss Simon Fuller for several weeks.

Marvel Fires Edward Norton From “The Avengers”. Edward Norton has been fired from the upcoming Marvel Studios film “The Avengers,” in which he was tapped to reprise his role as Bruce Banner, a.k.a. The Hulk. The studio says it needs someone worthy, while Norton shoots back at the insult. The film will see some of Marvel superheroes come back, including Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, and more. Norton, who played the green hero in 2008, was also asked to reprise his role, but it seems his services are not needed anymore. Marvel has fired the Oscar nominee from the film, insulting him in the process. President of Production Kevin Feige said, “Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members.” “‘The Avengers’ demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Sam  Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks.” Norton’s talent agent Brian Swardstrom shot back, saying after Feige offered the role to the actor, there had been “civil, uncontentious discussions” for weeks. Marvel has rescinded their offer even before they had signed a deal. He said, “This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light.” “We know a lot of fans have voiced their public disappointment with this result, but this is no excuse for Feige’s mean spirited, accusatory comments. Counter to what Kevin implies here, Edward was looking forward to the opportunity to work with Joss and the other actors in ‘The Avengers’ cast, many of whom are personal friends of his.” “Feige’s statement is unprofessional, disingenuous and clearly defamatory. Mr. Norton’s talent, tireless work ethic and professional integrity deserve more respect, and so do Marvel’s fans.” “The Avengers” is slated for a May 2012 release with Joss Whedon as director

Edward Norton Named New UN Goodwill Ambassador For Biodiversity. He may have lost a film role, but Edward Norton has been cast in another significant role. The “Fight Club” star has been named a UN goodwill ambassador for biodiversity. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon assigned the role to the Oscar nominee, recognizing “his ability to focus attention on and mobilize support for conservation and other philanthropic issues.” He said, “Edward Norton has brought global star power to global issues – community development and conservation, causes that are clearly close to his heart. His efforts to preserve biodiversity and promote ecosystem integrity in East Africa have been truly impressive.” “I hope his new Crowdrise initiative will inspire people to get involved in addressing the biodiversity crisis and in protecting the web of life on which our well-being depends.” Crowdrise is an innovative social networking platform that Norton helped launched. It aims to boost global participation in charitable work and raise funds for charities. Norton, who has just been fired from “The Avengers” film, also helped raise more than $1 million for local communities in Kenya when he ran in the New York City Marathon last year.
