Adam Lambert, Katy Perry Headline “Y100 Jingle Ball” Concert. Y100, Miami’s biggest music station and one of the most popular in the country, has assembled the year’s biggest radio chart-toppers for this year’s “2010 Y100 Jingle Ball.” This year’s show will feature headliners Katy Perry and Adam Lambert, among others. Katy Perry is sure to perform some of her biggest hits from her new “Teenage Dream” album, including the #1 title track and “California Gurls.” She last performed at the Y100 “Jingle Ball” in 2008, in support of her “One of the Boys” album. The “Jingle Ball” is just one of the many appearances she has lined up this year before she kicks off her “California Dreams” world tour in February. Adam Lambert is currently on his own successful world tour in support of his “For Your Entertainment” album. He’ll take the stage in South Florida for the second time in less than three months as part of the “Jingle Ball,” and by popular demand too. He was #1 on the radio station’s poll as to who listeners wanted to see at the show. He hosted last year’s “Y100 Jingle Ball” along with “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester, but did not perform. Selena Gomez will take the stage for the first time to perform hits from her album “A Year Without Rain,” while B.o.B. will also make his “Jingle Ball” debut performing his smash debut singles from this year, including “Airplanes” with Hayley Williams and “Nothin’ On You” with Bruno Mars. Taio Cruz also makes his first “Jingle Ball” appearance, thanks to his hit singles off his “Rokstarr” album, including the #1 “Break Your Heart” and “Dynamite.” Jay Sean is also “Down” for the party for the first time, sure to party like its “2012.” Flo Rida returns for another year, having performed at last year’s concert, while Enrique Iglesias makes his return to the “Jingle Ball” this year. Train and The Script, offering some much-need rock sounds to the proceedings, will also perform. Tickets for the 2010 “Y100 Jingle Ball” are currently in pre-sales and will go on sale to the general public this weekend.
Academy Award-winning Gwyneth Paltrow has gone country. Gwyneth Paltrow Releases Country Single
You may or may not remember her flop dramedy “Duets,” but her cover of Smokey Robinson’s “Cruisin’” with Huey Lewis actually became a #1 adult contemporary hit. Now, she has gone country. While reports are saying she’s releasing a country album, don’t hang up those boots just yet, Jessica Simpson. It’s simply for her role as Kelly Canter, a washed-up, out-of-rehab country singer try to make a musical comeback in the upcoming movie “Country Strong.” The song, “Country Strong,” has been serviced to radio under Kelly Canter, while plenty have started to catch on that it’s actually just clever marketing for the upcoming movie, which also stars country star Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund, and Leighton Meester. “I won’t stay down long / Because I’m country strong,” Paltrow croons on the track, which features Vince Gill and Patty Griffin on background vocals. It’s the first single from the soundtrack to “Country Strong,” set to be released on RCA Nashville on October 26 and will likely feature even more Paltrow/Canter cuts. To further blur the lines between fact and fiction, RCA has already set up a website for Paltrow’s Kelly character, as well as MySpace and Facebook pages. The movie, “Country Strong,” will hit theaters on December 22nd.
“Iron Man 2″ And “Gossip Girl” Lead Teen Choice Nods. “Iron Man 2″ and “Gossip Girl” have dominated the Teen Choice Awards nominations list with six nods each. Unsurprisingly, “New Moon” also garnered multiple nods, but behind the two with only five nominations. ”Iron Man 2″ star Robert Downey Jr. has nabbed a nod for Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi, while co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson took a nod each for Choice Movie Actress: Sci-Fi. The movie has been nominated for Choice Movie: Sci-Fi alongside “2012,” “District 9,” “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” and “Avatar.” “Gossip Girl,” meanwhile, has dominated the TV category, with stars Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, and Ed Westwick all getting a nod each. “New Moon” pulled off five nominations in the movie line. “Glee” also took five in the TV category. Comedians Aziz Ansari, Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Fallon, Chelsea Handler, and George Lopez are all vying for Choice Comedian. The Teen Choice 2010 Awards will be hosted by Katy Perry on August 9. Fans ages 13 to 19 can vote everyday for their choice starting June 14.
Leighton Meester And Robert Pattinson Reportedly Hooked Up. “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester has reportedly had an overnight rendezvous with “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson. The young stars apparently spent the night together in her New York apartment. According to an In Touch source, Pattinson was spotted entering Meester’s apartment at night and didn’t leave until 11 a.m. the next morning. “He ducked out of the building and hopped into a waiting car. He apparently spent the night with Leighton, and didn’t want anyone to know!” A close pal of the actress confirmed the said affair to the magazine, adding that she has a texting romance with it. However, Gossip Cop begs to differ. Quoting another unnamed source, the website swears that the report is untrue. Meester recently broke up with “Gossip Girl” occasional co-star Sebastian Stan, while Pattinson is being linked to “Twilight” love interest Kristen Stewart.
Another “Gossip Girl” Co-Stars Split: Leighton Meester And Sebastian Stan Break Up. After the breakup reports of “Gossip Girl” stars Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr surfaced, other co-stars are said to follow their lead. Leighton Meester and occasional co-star Sebastian Stan have reportedly called it quits. According to a friend of the 24-year-old actress singer, who plays the privileged and scheming Blair Waldorf on The CW series, she broke up with the 26-year-old actor because “she doesn’t know how to be in a relationship and doesn’t really like them.” The insider adds to OK! magazine that Stan, who appears in the series as Carter Baizen occasionally, is “heartbroken” by her decision. The report follows the news that Westwick broke up with Szohr after he learned she has flirted with one of his friends. It seems that dating co-stars is the norm in “Gossip Girl.” Series regulars Blake Lively and Penn Badgley are also a couple.
“Glee” Star Cory Monteith, Katie Cassidy Join Selena Gomez For “Monte Carlo”. Selena Gomez is heading to Europe and she’s taking some other television stars with her. “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester, “Melrose Place” resident Katie Cassidy, and Cory Monteith of “Glee” are all heading to “Monte Carlo” with the teen Disney star. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Monteith and Cassidy are the latest to join the cast for the upcoming comedy based on the the book “Headhunters” by Jules Bass. The story follows Gomez halfway around the world to a charity auction after a case of wrong identity finds her mistaken for a socialite. Gomez and her gal pals team up to find a million-dollar necklace after it goes missing. Cassidy and Meester will play her friends, while Monteith will play her boyfriend who hops on a plane to Europe to prove his dedication to her. Andie MacDowell is set to play Gomez’s mom. The movie is set to start shooting in the spring in locales like Budapest, Paris, and Nice, France. Nicole Kidman, who was originally slated to star, is serving as executive producer. She also may take on a supporting role. “Nicole is the coolest person ever, and very sweet,” Gomez told In Touch about meeting the Oscar winner. “So I was very happy!” Selena Gomez is next set to appear in this summer’s “Ramona and Beezus,” based on the books by Beverly Clearly. Cassidy will hit the big screen in this month’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” while Leighton Meester appears in “Date Night” with Tina Fey and Steve Carrell.

Cole was also named Best Dressed last year. Moss, who was second in the list last year, plummeted to seventh place this year, while Beckham slipped from third to eight. “Fearless dresser” Rihanna is at second place, while “Gossip Girl” stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester are at third and fourth respectively. British TV host Alexa Chung completes the top 5. It’s worth noting that Lady Gaga and Jolie, who both appeared in the best dressed list, also appeared in the worst dressed category. As chart stars like Ke$ha, Jay Sean, Adam Lambert and Wyclef Jean descended upon New York this holiday season, Billboard’s cameras caught up with them at Z100′s Jingle Ball concert and at the Vevo launch party to find out their personal highlights of 2009 and their big plans for 2010. Some themes emerged among the diverse list of artists. Several cited Michael Jackson’s death as the most important music moment of their 2009. As for 2010, many have albums coming, tours afoot, and have projects with Taylor Swift either in the can or in the works. Video interviews by Mariel Concepcion and Evie Nagy.
Kris Allen, unsurprisingly, cites his “American Idol” experience as his highlight of 2009. The “Idol” winner says it has been “crazy and I feel good.” As for 2010, look for him to kick off a tour in February and, before long, perhaps new music will be forthcoming. He’s planning to start writing his next album soon. Meanwhile, check out Kris performing Kanye West’s “Heartless” live in New York in the video above.
Justin Bieber’s plans for 2010 include releasing the second half of his album so the “ladies… don’t have to wait.” He says his favorite moment of 2009 was getting to perform at Wembly in London, “even though I broke my foot. I’ll never forget it.” See the cast for yourself in the video as Bieber performs “Love Me” live in New York.
Boys Like Girls say 2009′s best moment for them was working with pal Taylor Swift, who appears on “Two Is Better Than One” from BLG’s September album “Love Drunk.” In the video, check out the band playing the title track live in New York. Coming up in 2010, catch Boys Like Girls out on the road, or as they phrase it, “a bunch of not going home.”
Ciara is quick to site the passing of Michael Jackson as the most important music moment of 2009. Her plans for 2010 include new music.
Miranda Cosgrove was happiest about her mom’s Christmas dinner in 2009 (“She won’t tell me the recipe,” the “iCarly” star laments). As for 2010, she’s most excited about her first solo album, due in the spring. It will include, “a lot of relationship songs” the 16-year-old actress/singer says.
The Fray were pleased with the warm reception to their self-titled second album in 2009, they say. But the top moment? Easy. The record was nominated for a Best Pop Vocal Album” Grammy on Dec. 2.
Allison Iraheta, the redhead who took fourth place on “American Idol” in 2009, mentions both the death of Michael Jackson and her “Idol” cohort Adam Lambert’s much-debated American Music Awards performance as the most memorable music moments of the year. She says she’s most looking forward to spreading the word about her new album “Just Like You” in 2010.
Wyclef Jean keeps it simple. He says the music highlight of 2009 for him was watching Alicia Keys and Jay-Z perform “Empire State of Mind” at the World Series in New York this fall.
Ke$ha says 2009 was a whirlwind for her. The “TiK ToK” singer says she, “worked really, really hard for the moment she could say she was No. 1.” But what was the highlight of her 2009? She got to leave her waitressing job. She says she told her employers, “I quit, bitches!” In 2010, look out for her album “Animal” on Jan. 5, and soon thereafter, a big tour. “I’m just trying to cover the world in glitter, one country at a time.”
Adam Lambert is so over the controversy surrounding his bawdy performance at the American Music Awards in November (“It’s all in the past,” he says). 2009′s highlight for him was the “American Idol” finale. He calls getting to sing with Queen and Kiss “totally surreal.” In 2010, Lambert will be coming to a town near you, possibly starting with a spring tour that “pulls out all the stops: costumes, fire, dancers, the whole nine yards.”
Leighton Meester branched out from her “Gossip Girl” fame in 2009 with a star turn on Cobra Starship’s hit “Good Girls Go Bad.” She says when she first heard the song on the radio, “I screamed like a nerd.” In 2010, look for the actress/singer’s first album as well as a pair of movies: “Date Night” in April and “The Roommate” in October.
Orianthi first wowed American crowds as the dexterous guitarist for Michael Jackson. She was prominently featured in the footage that makes up the doc “This Is It.” As you might guess, the Australian says that the best moments of 2009 for her were “getting to audition for Michael Jackson’s band and working with him. It was life-changing.” Up her sleeve for 2010 is the release of her debut album, “Believe,” which features a song with Steve Vai and “guitar solos on every track,” as well as a tour in Feb. or March.
Pitbull is partial to Jay-Z’s “Blueprint 3″ as the best music moment of 2009. He calls Hova’s album an “inspiration.” What’s up for him in 2010? Look for more singles from “Rebelution.” “I’m staying dedicated to the project, old school music style,” he said on camera.
Raphael Saadiq is quick to note that his music’s success at iTunes was the highlight of 2009 for him.
Jay Sean celebrated his first Hot 100 No. 1 in 2009. He says, “how many people manage to get a No. 1? It was such a blessing.” How did he react to finding out his single “Down” had topped the chart? “I dropped the phone!” Sean lets us in on the fact that he may possibly work with Taylor Swift in the new year.
Either some good or bad news for country music fans. Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester will all be playing country music singers in the Shana Feste written and directed Love Don’t Let Me Down, the story of a rising singer-songwriter (Hedlund) who becomes involved with a fallen country singer (Paltrow) as they embark on a career rejuvenating tour with her husband/manager (McGraw) and a beauty queen-turned-singer (Meester). But romance and digging up the past might prove to much for the musical group. Next up Variety reports Harold Perrineau (of ABC’s “Lost”) Continue reading →

And having her sing on an upcoming episode is more than enough! We’re still reeling from her amazing Saturday Night Live performance last weekend. No word on when Gaga’s episode is, so keep on top of your DVR!
The Story: The privileged prep school teens on Manhattan’s Upper East Side first learn that Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively, “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”) is back in town the way they learn all the important news in their lives — from the blog of the all-knowing albeit ultra-secretive Gossip Girl. No one knows Gossip Girl’s identity, but everyone in this exclusive and complicated vicious circle relies on her website and text messages for the latest scoop. Even Serena’s closest friend, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester, “Entourage”), is surprised to find that Serena has suddenly ended her self-imposed exile to boarding school and returned to Manhattan.
Once the Upper East Side’s most notorious party girl, Serena’s reasons for returning are mysterious, although they may have something to do with her younger brother Eric (Connor Paolo, “Alexander”). Whatever the reasons, the change in Serena is obvious, especially to Blair, whose friendship with Serena has always been competitive and difficult. When Serena was out of the picture, Blair enjoyed her time in the spotlight and she has no intention of going back to living in Serena’s shadow. Their uneasy relationship is further complicated by Blair’s boyfriend Nate (Chace Crawford, “The Covenant”), a young man uneasy with all the privileges that have been handed to him by his high-powered father Howie “The Captain” Archibald (Sam Robards, “The West Wing”). Now that Serena is back, Blair will have to fight to hold onto Nate’s attention. It also remains to be seen whether Blair’s loyal lieutenants — Katy (newcomer Nan Zhang) and Isabel (newcomer Nicole Fiscella) — will remain by her side or break ranks to follow Serena.
The tension between Blair and Serena isn’t lost on anyone in this crowd, since they all live for gossip and scandal — along with fashion, shopping and partying in Manhattan’s trendiest hot spots. This is a world you have to be born into, full of wealth, power, and people like Chuck (Ed Westwick, “Children of Men”). A friend of Nate’s since childhood, Chuck leads a reckless life, and constantly pushes Nate to explore his dark side.
The proverbial fish-out-of-water at the prep school are Dan (Penn Badgley, “John Tucker Must Die,” “The Bedford Diaries”) and his sister Jenny (Taylor Momsen, “Paranoid Park,” “How The Grinch Stole Christmas”), middle-class kids whose background keeps them on the fringes of this exclusive clique. Dan and Jenny are attending the school at the insistence of their father Rufus (Matthew Settle, “Into The West”), a former rocker turned art gallery owner, determined to give his kids a first-class education. Rufus has a history with Serena’s mother Lily (Kelly Rutherford, “Melrose Place”), a socialite who hides her past as a dancer and rock groupie. When a chance encounter brings Dan to Serena’s attention, he suddenly finds himself dating the girl of his dreams. The more Dan discovers about the real Serena, the more he’s challenged to make sense of her world. Dan’s sister Jenny is the youngest of the group and wants desperately to be accepted. The price she’ll have to pay for popularity will take a toll, but at the moment, Jenny is just thrilled to have entry into this glamorous world.
Dan and Serena’s relationship is further complicated by the arrival of Dan’s friend Vanessa, a Brooklyn rebel and loner who doesn’t approve of Serena’s world of money, fashion shows and fund raisers. Vanessa’s attempts to pull him back to his roots will cause friction between Dan and Serena.
Keeping track of the shifting friendships, jealousies and turmoil in this wealthy and complex world isn’t easy, but it’s what Gossip Girl does best.

This time Katy Perry isn’t kissing girls or worried male fickleness. She is stuck in Vegas without her fake ID or her boyfriend’s motel room key. The detail in the song’s story is fun propelled along by a steady beat that breaks into a chorus almost worthy of being an advertising jingle for Las Vegas tourism. Anders Carlsson’s past experience working with Max Martin is obvious in the song’s poppy energy. Greg Wells has serious skill in helping turn a song into something unforgettably catchy. Then there is Katy Perry who fearlessly steps forward into stories and wit that skates the line between quite funny and annoyingly in your Continue reading →
Green Day have an expensive looking video out for their new single, “21 Guns.” The clip finds the band performing the ballad in a room that was assaulted by gunfire, and a couple under similar circumstances. The gunfire is probably a metaphor for something, but was probably chosen because it looks sorta cool. This song is a perfect example how Green Day have opted for a generic and vague lyrical approach, but then claim that they’re political now (or something). This is as political and meaningful as a Che Guevara poster in a dorm room. Check out the video on RTV Channel.
