Kasabian to play new material at RockNess. It’s promising to be the ‘Year of the ‘Ness’ and KASABIAN, who headline the monster three day RockNess festival next June have just added serious buzz by revealing the bash in the Scottish Highlands will be one of the first opportunities to hear brand new material live! Speaking to NME, Serge Pizzorno said fans should expect some new additions to the setlist. When asked if Kasabian would be playing new songs at RockNess, Pizzorno replied: “Definitely. There may even be something out by then too. I’d like there to be. I’d love to have something out because it always gets you going when you’re playing the new shit.” Pizzorno was speaking around the release of London Boulevard, the British film he has composed the soundtrack for. He said that some of the material from the soundtrack may influence new Kasabian songs. “There may be a tune or so from the film that could surface too,” he said. “In some ways, the film and the score might be almost a little glimpse into what will happen with the band in the future.” Joining KASABIAN, is an act that can well and truly call RockNess home ‘ The Chemical Brothers. Last time Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands played the festival, they unleashed a colossal visual and sonic assault of such magnitude it reverberated the length of the Great Glen. Now in news that is generating elation with fans, they’re heading back for the first gig in Scotland since 2008. Ed and Tom said ‘it’s really exciting to be headlining one of our favourite festivals. RockNess is an amazing place to play and we can’t wait to be back there again’. Expect heaps of arms-aloft euphoria come June! Completing the Main Stage headliners is Paolo Nuttini who promises to bring RockNess to a spectacular close on the Sunday in a massive landmark homecoming gig. Nutini’s reputation for blistering, crowd rousing live performances has seen him electrify audiences across the globe and festival organisers are inviting fans the length and breadth of the country to do whatever it takes to join this unmissable, once-in-a-lifetime occasion. RockNess 2011 takes place 10-12 June, 2011 in the village of Dores, close to Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. The festival won ‘LINE UP OF THE YEAR’ at last month’s UK Festival Awards for its 2010 extravaganza which saw appearances from a raft of incredible acts including The Strokes. Leftfield and Fatboy Slim. Music lovers are being encouraged to ‘Respect the ‘Ness’ by taking advantage of ‘GO GREEN’ tickets on sale that include FREE COACH TRAVEL FROM ALL MAJOR CITIES IN THE UK. R.E.M. reveal new album name to be released in Spring 2011
R.E.M. reveal new album name. Best-selling rock band R.E.M. have revealed that the title of their 15th studio album will be Collapse Into Now. The album will be released in Spring 2011 by Warner Bros. Records. BBC Radio 6 broke the news on its Twitter feed after R.E.M.’s manager Bertis Downs revealed the title at the In the City conference. R.E.M., which is singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, and bassist Mike Mills, re-teamed with Grammy Award-winning producer Jacknife Lee, who produced the band’s acclaimed previous album Accelerate, to make Collapse Into Now. Lee is also noted for his work on albums by U2, Snow Patrol, The Hives, and indie stalwarts Kasabian, Editors, Aqualung, and Bloc Party. R.E.M. and Lee recorded the album in New Orleans at the Music Shed and in Berlin at the famed Hansa Studios, where several legendary albums, including David Bowie’s Heroes, U2′s Achtung Baby, and Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life, were made. Additional recording and mixing were done at the venerable Blackbird Studio in Nashville. Collapse Into Now is the follow-up to 2008′s hard-charging Accelerate, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, topped the Alternative, Rock, Digital, and Internet (physical goods) charts in the U.S., and debuted at No. 1 in Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. It spawned three hit singles ‘Supernatural Superserious,’ ‘Hollow Man,’ and ‘Man-Sized Wreath.’ The band also released a two-CD live set, entitled R.E.M. Live At The Olympia, last October. On October 26th, 2010, New West Records will release R.E.M. Live From Austin, TX – a DVD that contains the full live performance of the band’s concert for PBS’ Austin City Limits television series, plus three songs that didn’t air on the original broadcast. The 17 songs, including several from Accelerate and such classic hits as ‘Losing My Religion’ and ‘Man On The Moon,’ have been re-mixed and re-mastered in LPCM stereo and DTS-HD 5.1 Surround Sound.

Noel Fielding pits Bryan Ferry against Jelly Fox. Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh opened an art exhibition in London on the weekend, with part of it dedicated to Roxy Music front man and solo artist, Bryan Ferry. The entire exhibit is called Bryan Ferry vs. The Jelly Fox, with part of it being the ‘Church of Ferry’, which is entirely devoted to drawings of Bryan Ferry. ”m a bit like a mental patient, I just draw everything anyway, so I’ve always got loads of stuff kicking around and I can’t keep it all,’ Fielding told our source. He added that he usually keeps his drawings under his bed. Also featured is an installation created by Fielding with music from Sergio Pizzorno of Kasabian and some paintings by Mike Fielding, who plays Naboo in The Mighty Boosh. ‘Bryan Ferry vs. The Jelly Fox’ runs until January 5 at the Maison Bertaux – London’s oldest cake shop.
