Chickenfoot release debut album on June 8th

‘Chickenfoot’; the all-star rock band consisting of drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), bassist Michael Anthony (ex-Van Halen), guitarist Joe Satriani and vocalist Sammy Hagar (ex-Van Halen), will release their eponymous debut album in the UK, Monday June 8th on the earMusic label. Hailed as the most intense rock’n’roll album in years, the debut Chickenfoot album coincides with the bands’ sold out UK concert at London’s 02 Shepherds Bush Empire on June 25th. Learn to play Lynyrd Skynyrd guitar tuition DVD launched

Lick Library, one of world leading suppliers of guitar tuition DVD’s, have just released the classic guide to playing Lynyrd Skynyrd tracks. This new double DVD set features some of the worlds most recognisable rock tracks including the famous Freebird.

The full track listing includes Sweet Home Alabama, Simple Man, Tuesday’s Gone Gimme Three Steps and Freebird. Each song is broken down into bite sized parts, including Intro Riff’s, solo’s, verse, chorus, outro and key phrases. Lick Library’s easy to learn lessons dissect the songs into manageable sections covering note by note, picking patterns right down to the famous opening solo in the great Freebird.

Coldplay sued at the Grammys

Coldplay are going to be sued at the Grammys.

Joe Satriani has accused the band of plagiarism after claiming their recent single ‘Viva La Vida’ was a based on his song ‘If I Could Fly’ and has hired a legal team to serve Coldplay papers during the awards ceremony on Sunday (08.02.09).

Satriani is sure the group will attend the Los Angeles event because they have been nominated for seven awards.

It has been reported Satriani’s lawyer Howard King has hired a team to ‘dog the band everywhere they go’ so the papers can be served personally.

He is rumoured to have employed a camera crew to film the attempts at serving them the writ.

Coldplay – made up of frontman Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion – have said they find the incident ‘frustrating and annoying’.

Drummer Will said: “It’s so far-fetched and ridiculous. But that’s about all we can say at the moment. We’re waiting to see what’s happening but it’s frustrating and annoying and totally unfounded.”
