Disney's Live-Action "Sorcerer's Apprentice" Hits Blu-Ray And DVD
Disney’s Live-Action “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” Hits Blu-Ray And DVD. Nicolas Cage followed-up this year’s “Kick-Ass” with something a lot more family friendly, but just as action-packed. Disney’s “Fantasia”-inspired “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” is hitting DVD and Blu-ray next week. It’ll be released day-and-date with “Fantasia” and “Fantasia 2000” on DVD and Blu-ray, which will make an ideal stocking stuffer for the wannabe sorcerers and superheroes, which star Nicolas Cage said he used to be. “This is the role I’ve been waiting to do my whole life,” Cage said about “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” In the film, Cage plays Balthazar Blake, a master sorcerer trying to defend the Manhattan from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar recruits nerdy Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), as his protégé, giving him a crash course in magic to work together to stop evil forces. The live-action “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” is inspired by the Mickey Mouse-starring short of the same name featured in the original 1940 “Fantasia.” The 10-minute sequence was expanded with the help of Nic’s “National Treasure” collaborators producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turtletaub. “There are elements of the animation in the movie, but we fleshed out the idea into a two-hour action adventure,” Cage said. “We have expanded the idea to present a thrilling magical world to audiences and I’m especially happy because it’s a family movie. I liked the idea of entertaining a family without having to rely on murder and guns. We’ve kept it very positive.” The DVD and Blu-ray features outtakes, deleted scenes, and featurettes, including “Fantasia: Reinventing a Classic,” which chronicles the development of the film’s sequences inspired by the animated short, “Magic in the City,” about shooting the big-budget fantasy in New York, and “Making Magic Real,” a look at the film’s special effects. “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” will be available in a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack on November 30th. It can also be picked up with “Fantasia/Fantasia 2000” Blu-ray and DVD combo pack at some stores at even lower price.
New Kings Of Leon Video – “Notion”
New Kings Of Leon Video – “Notion” Chances are you either hate Kings Of Leon, or you were born in the UK. Wherever you’re from, the Followill clan clearly are good enough in the studio to capture the imagination of discerning lovelies like Lykke Li and Natasha Khan; it’s the making a video that isn’t a nightmare factory that’s been the hard part. At the least, the clip for “Notion” shouldn’t enrage anybody. And at most, its mix of pathos and gratuitous explosions will appeal to people who swear by the effect (and effects) of summertime Jerry Bruckheimer movies. Which makes sense for a band trying to hone in on the American demographic most likely to buy their records.
