13 MTV Video Music Award Nominations for Lady Gaga.

13 MTV Video Music Award Nominations for Lady Gaga. Following her blood-soaked performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last year, Lady Gaga continues her “Bad Romance” with MTV, picking up a record-breaking, and unlucky, number of VMA nominations this year. Lady Gaga tops the nominees this year, earning a record 13 nominations. She also earns a double nod in the Video of the Year category, becoming the first female to ever do so. She’s nominated for both “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” with Beyonce. If her votes are split in that category, the award for Video of the Year can also go to Florence + The Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over,”30 Seconds to Mars with “Kings and Queens,” B.o.B and Hayley Williams with “Airplanes,” and Eminem’s “Not Afraid.” “Bad Romance” also picked up nominations for Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Best Dance Music Video. She’s also featured twice in the Best Collaboration category, once for “Telephone” and once for “Video Phone (Remix),” both featuring Beyonce.    “I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history,” Gaga told MTV about the news. “Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13.” Eminem follows Gaga with the most nominations, also earning nods for “Not Afraid” in the Best Male Video, Best Hip-Hop Video categories, among others. He’s up against himself alongside Drake in the Best Hip-Hop Video category for “Forever.” Ke$ha earned nominations for Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Best New Artist. Justin Bieber picked up a nod for “Baby” in the Best New Artist category as well. “The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards” will air September 12 at 9:00 pm ET on MTV.

Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” Spends Fifth Week At #1 On Billboard Hot 100. Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” is still the most popular song in the country, remaining at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a fifth week. It’s also inching closer to her longest streak at #1 when she topped the chart for seven weeks with “I Kissed a Girl.” The track, which features rapper Snoop Dogg, is also the #1 song at pop radio. It also moved another 277,000 copies in digital sales, but wasn’t the week’s biggest digital seller. That title belongs to Eminem and Rihanna with “Love the Way You Lie,” which sold another 280,000 copies for a second week at the top of the Hot Digital Songs chart. That’s also good enough for another week at #2 on the Hot 100. Usher follows with “OMG” at #3 for another week. There were no shake-ups in the top 5 at all this week as B.o.B. and Hayley Williams remain at #4 this week with “Airplanes,” while Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars are unmoved at #5 with “Billionaire.” Mike Posner moves up to #6 this week with his debut single, “Cooler Than Me.” Meanwhile, Taio Cruz was only absent from the top 10 for a week before rebounding back with his brand new single, “Dynamite.” The track moves up to #7 from #14 last week. It’s also rumored to be released as a remix with Jennifer Lopez.
