When James Blunt posted a picture of himself standing near a building from Auschwitz, he probably wasn’t expecting quite so much feedback. His fans on Facebook, however, had much to say.
Blunt posted the picture with the caption “Uh, this is my hotel in Poland.” After that, nearly 17,000 people decided to give the singer a piece of their minds.
The singer, who rose to fame with his hit “You’re Beautiful,” was actually staying in a five-star hotel, not the former Nazi death camp. In fact, he has only been staying in five-star hotels throughout his current tour. His latest stop at the Life Festival at Mosir Stadium is just down the road from Auschwitz.
Despite the barrage of complaints from fans, Blunt has left the picture on his Facebook page.
Late night talk show host Chelsea Handler beat out comedian Ellen DeGeneres as the funniest woman on the Web, according to a list released Tuesday. The list by PeekYou, a search engine that ranks individuals’ online prominence, found that Handler was picked as the top 10 women who cracks the best jokes on television and on Twitter and Facebook. DeGeneres came in second place, while other funny ladies like Kathy Griffin, Maria Bamford and Jackie Kashian followed behind. The top list also made room for Handlers’ friends and frequent panelists on E!’s “Chelsea Lately” show, including Jen Kirkman, Lonnie Love, Natasha Leggero, Heather McDonald and Sarah Colonna. With the success of her 2010 hit book, “Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang” and comedy tour, which grossed more than $16 million, Handler is planning to embark on yet another stand-up comedy tour, reports Entertainment Weekly. The comedienne, who is reportedly dating rapper 50 Cent, will launch the “Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me” tour, which shares a title with her upcoming book, in Boston on May 10. Fellow comedians McDonald, Brad Wollack and Josh Wolf will join the star on multiple dates. Handler will perform shows in cities including Chicago, Phoenix and Los Angeles as well as New York, Houston and Minneapolis before wrapping up on June 25 in Seattle.

Lady Gaga and Giorgio Armani have formed a multimillion dollar partnership that will involve the legendary designer making the costumes for the leg of the singer’s tour starting in December. The iconic, 76-year-old Italian fashion designer did something unusual and dressed Lady Gaga, known for her adventurism in fashion, in a crystal-encrusted silver hoop dress with orbiting rings for the Grammy Awards. He then started designing costumes for her videos for her – the bondage-style black leather costumes in the racy “Alejandro” video were Armani – and must have evolved into the partnership for Gaga’s tour costumes. Armani seems to be the designer of Gaga’s choice as of late; he designed the black rubberized dress with spikes sticking out which the singer wore to the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles more recently. Armani’s designing deal with the 24-year-old pop star is reportedly an effort by Armani to rejuvenate his business. “A huge company like Giorgio Armani has the duty to always be alert to trends and what appeals to young people,” Roberta Armani, Armani’s niece and head of VIP relations, told our source. “It helped to see how the world is through Lady Gaga, the way she uses Facebook and Twitter.” Although there is still very little information on what the pair’s collaboration will involve, Gaga is the first star that Armani has designed a specific gown for. Celebrities who have previously worn his label have chosen from existing collections. “It wouldn’t be possible to give Gaga a look from the collection because she wears pieces of art. It’s theatrical,” Roberta said.
Ready To Start, the second single from Arcade Fire’s latest album The Suburbs, will be released digitally on 11th October 2010 via Sonovox. From Arcade Fire’s third studio album, the track was described by the NME as having the “urgent fractious energy of ‘Tunnels’… stately, melancholic but resolute, with an urgent rhythm and riff.” Ready to Start is a follow up to Arcade Fire’s first single We Used To Wait. The music video for which, The Wilderness Downtown, has already received over 25 million views worldwide. An interactive online only video, The Wilderness Downtown filled social networking sites twitter and facebook, again causing Arcade Fire to top Hype Machine. Billboard found Chris Milk’s interactive video, ‘an eye-popping interactive film/experience. further pushing the boundaries of the music video concept” while the Guardian called it ‘an extremely impressive use of technology’. The Suburbs went to Number 1 in the UK and the US, Canada, Portugal, Norway, Ireland and Belgium on release in August and the top 5 in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The band will return to the UK in December for two shows in London followed by dates in Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow. The Arcade Fire are Win Butler, Régine Chassagne, Richard Reed Parry, William Butler, Tim Kingsbury, Sarah Neufeld and Jeremy Gara. ‘Arcade Fire knew they were ready to start a third album when they sat down and jammed an urgent indie-rock thumper appropriately titled Ready To Start.’ Q – October 2010
Facebook Bans Innocent-Looking Kylie Minogue And Teddy Bear Photo. An innocent-looking photo of Australian pop star Kylie Minogue holding a big teddy bear has been banned from Facebook. The social networking site apparently thinks the photo is too racy. The photo shows the 42-year-old “Locomotion” hitmaker holding a bear given by a fan during a recent show at the G-A-Y nightclub in London. It seems innocent and sweet enough, so many were perplexed why Facebook pulled out the photo on a fan’s page. The company explained in an email, “We do not allow photos that contain n?dity, drug use or violence.” There was no drug use or violence depicted on the photo so it must be n?dity. But clearly, only those with wicked mind can understand why the company found the photo offensive. Apparently, Minogue is seen giving the teddy bear a sexual act. The singer is holding a microphone in one hand between the t-shirt-wearing but pant-less stuffed toy’s legs. It sounds far-fetched, but there’s no other explanation for it.

The video centres on a busker performing the song against a projected backdrop illustrating the range of services provided by the Red Cross in the UK and abroad.
Michelle “Bombshell, McGee In A Feud With Comedian Chelsea Handler. Chelsea Handler is making a living skewering all of Hollywood. But not keeping quiet about her remarks is the most famous tattooed other woman in the country, Michelle “Bombshell” McGee, who is in a war of words with the comedian and television host. McGee, who’s been the talk of just about every entertainment show on television after being the first woman to claim having an affair Sandra Bullock’s husband Jesse James, has been taking to her Facebook to attack the star. “Dear Chelsea, glad to see my grandma’s old clothes put to good use in your wardrobe. Her mu-mu’s look AMAZING on you,” McGee wrote on Friday. McGee’s comments came after Handler called her a “dumb b—-“ on the Wednesday episode of “Chelsea Lately,” when referring to comments McGee previously made about the 35-year-old comedian on her Facebook. “P.S.,” she continued, “You need to hire another midget to hold up those saggy boobies of yours…all that breast feeding from Chuy has really taken its toll.” Chuy is Handler’s miniature sidekick who appears with her on the show. The war of words began when Handler took to her blog to talk about McGee and the affair. “Michelle really believed that Sandra and Jesse were separated and was ‘shocked’ to see them together at the Oscars,” she said. “I guess she doesn’t read magazines, which makes sense since she basically has one on her face.” McGee first fired back on her Facebook that Handler should “use some of that botox from your forehead and put it in your flabby underarm skin. I’ve seen better wings in a bucket of KFC chicken.” Handler retorted on the air during her show on Wednesday, wrinkling her forehead and saying, “Look at my forehead, you dumb b—-.”
Zach Braff has put an end to “Scrubs.” The ABC sitcom’s original star hinted that the show has been canceled, although creator Bill Lawrence said nothing is finalized yet. Braff, 34, told fans on his Facebook page that the series, which has reincarnated into “Scrubs: Med School” during its ninth season, won’t be renewed anymore. He wrote: “Many of you have asked, so here it is: it appears that ‘New Scrubs,’ ‘Scrubs 2.0.’ ‘Scrubs with new kids,’ ‘Scrubbier,’ ‘Scrubbs without JD’ is no more. It was worth a try, but alas… it didn’t work about. Zb” However, Lawrence clarified to eonline.com that the show “hasn’t been canceled, we’re all just assuming it’s over.” “Scrubs: Med School” starred Braff in the first six episodes and previous cast members Donald Faison and John C. McGinley. Eliza Coupe, Michael Mosley, Dave Franco, and Kerry Bishe, as the new narrator, co-star.
Danny Glover, Jimmy Jean-Louis To Appear At Haiti Fundraiser In Washington.
The Haiti earthquake may have occurred two months ago, but people across the country haven’t forgotten about it, and the U.S. capital is no exception. Activists and actors Danny Glover and Jimmy Jean-Louis will be among the honored guests at the “To Haiti with Love” fundraiser at 5 p.m. March 21 at the W Hotel in Washington, D.C. The proceeds from the event, hosted by Global Commerce Solutions, will benefit the people of Haiti through two collaborating non-profit charitable organizations: The Children and Families Global Development Fund, Inc. and The Hollywood Unites for Haiti Earthquake Assistance Fund. The latter group was founded by “Heroes” star Jean-Louis, a Haiti native who has worked tirelessly since the disaster to help provide relief for his countrymen at home and abroad. Joining him will be The Honorable Raymond Joseph, the Haitian ambassador to the United States. The two of them will provide attendees with a status update of the Caribbean nation and plans for further relief. “Even though many of the cameras have left, the needs still exist,” said Harry Black, vice president of Global Commerce Solutions, in a press release for the benefit. “We are proud to host this event with our special guests to do our part to assure that the people of Haiti continue to receive the support they need to rebuild over the long term.” “To Haiti with Love” is just one instance of Glover’s activism. The actor recently encouraged a boycott of fashion label Hugo Boss prior to the 82nd annual Academy Awards. This request of Oscar nominees was in response to the German clothing line’s impending closure of an Ohio manufacturing plant
MySpace is offering its users’ data to third parties who resell the content. The move by the company once regarded as the largest social networking phenomenon is a scenario privacy advocates have always feared. The data being sold includes any activity or information that is attached to a user’s account. Experts say that includes blog posts, location, photos, reviews, and status updates-among others. There is an untold amount of data and tracking that web analytics can provide about users and their online behavior for marketing purposes. MySpace, which has lost its dominance of the market share in recent years to rival Facebook, has contracted to have users’ data sold by a company called Infochimps for as little as $30. The openly advertised service gives industry insiders a glimpse at how eager the company is to raise cash and how eager some firms are to learn as much about you as possible. Infochimps, which has a revenue-sharing agreement with MySpace, is offering developers a pre-packaged version of MySpace’s Real Time Stream Feed as a value-added service. “Turning to selling off of data streams sounds like desperation to me,” Matthew Humphries wrote on geek.com. In a statement on Humphries’ post, MySpace defended its action, saying, “We have identified the need for third-party developers who can’t handle the size of our full feed to still have access to the data in a different format.” Infochimps, an Austin, TX start up, states on its website that the service is ”an open catalog and marketplace for the world’s data. You can share, sell, curate, and download data about anything and everything.” The revelation is a reminder that users of such social networking sites should read the site’s privacy agreement and realize that the data and information users submit belong to the site. In 2005 News Corporation purchased MySpace for $580 million
