Dave Grohl recorded the new Foo Fighters album in his house
The Foo Fighters frontman ‘ who has daughters Violet, four, and 22-month-old Harper with wife Jordyn ‘ revealed his spouse was understanding of his wish to record the group’s new album ‘Wasting Light’ in their home because his work is all he thinks about. He said: ‘My wife has been really cool about me recording the album here. There were 25 people at my house every day.
‘She understands that it’s my job. But more than that, it’s the one thing I do. I don’t do anything else. I don’t go hiking or have hobbies or sports or friends. I just do this.’
The ‘Rope’ singer believes working on the album in his house - with guitarists Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear, bassist Nate Mendel and drummer Taylor Hawkins - had an impact on how it sounds, and he will be reminded of the experience whenever he hears the record back.
He explained to UK Elle magazine: ‘Studio memories are really vivid and they last forever. So when I hear a song on the radio that we’ve made, I remember that day, I remember what I was wearing, what I ate.
‘Making the album here in this house, that was part of the concept. The experience dictates what the music sounds like, so rather than it being some cold mechanical process that ends up like a sheet of paper in a book, it’s more like a real experience that comes through in the way you play guitar or sing.
‘When I listen to any of the stuff here, I remember things like the day my daughter took the splicing tape and tied all the door knobs together.’
Lady Gaga Was 2010's Magazine Cover Bestseller.
Lady Gaga Was 2010′s Magazine Cover Bestseller. Lady Gaga was the past year’s safest bet for magazine editors. The Grammy Award-winning hitmaker sold the most issues of magazines in 2010, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations. The numbers, obtained by our source, did not cover the whole year, but just until November for Conde Nast magazines and October for Hearst titles. But through the end of September, it was clearly Gaga’s year on print as she sold the most issues for magazines she graced the cover on. She was Rolling Stone’s top-selling issue when she appeared on its July 8 cover in a thong with two automatic weapons. It sold 245,000 copies, nearly three times better than its 2010 average. She was also Cosmopolitan’s top seller, selling 1.7 million copies during its April issue.”The Fame” hitmaker’s September cover was the second bestseller of Vanity Fair, behind only Angelina Jolie, selling 450,000 copies, which is more than 80,000 better than its average. Elle magazine also scored its third bestseller of the year through October when they featured the singer on their January cover. Our source also reports that Rihanna was a newsstand hit. Her GQ magazine January cover became the second bestseller of the year through November, while her August Seventeen cover was the top seller through the end of October. However, the “Only Girl (In the World)” singer underperformed when her July Elle cover sold just 285,000 copies, a little below average for the magazine. Meanwhile, it was an unfortunate issue for the magazines who chose Taylor Swift to grace their cover. The country pop sweetheart gave Elle magazine its worst selling issue of the year when she appeared on its April cover. Her Glamour cover for November didn’t also work. It was the magazine’s second worst seller, while her July Marie Claire cover was the third worst for the magazine.
Lily Allen
Lily Allen takes a break to have baby. Lily Allen has taken a break from music because she is ready to have a baby. The singer – who is currently dating builder Sam Cooper, 31 – admits she has put her pop career on hold so she can fulfil her dream of becoming a mother. And Lily has scoffed at claims that, at 25, she is too young to devote herself to become a mother. She said in an interview with Elle magazine: ‘I don’t think I’m that young to have a baby. My mother had me when she was 23. It’s difficult as a woman who wants a family. ‘Kids take up your whole life, particularly in the first two or three years. So it wouldn’t be very responsible of me to commit to doing a world tour if I had a baby.’ However, at last weekend’s Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, South West England, Lily sparked rumours she was already expecting by steering well clear of cigarettes and alcohol. An onlooker told BANG Showbiz: ‘Lily spent the whole night sat on a deck chair wrapped up in a poncho canoodling with Sam. ‘She didn’t touch a drop of alcohol and not one cigarette passed her lips all night.’ The ‘Smile’ singer – who was left heartbroken after suffering a miscarriage with then-boyfriend Ed Simons’ baby in January 2008 – recently announced she was taking an extended break from pop music and was hoping to have a baby with the first year of her sabbatical. She said: “It’ll be a minimum of four or five years before I make a record again. I’d like to have a child within a year. “I know what commitment it takes to release an album. I don’t think that mixes well with the idea of settling down and having children, which is ultimately my goal and more of a priority than flying around the world.”
