This year will prove to be a big one for Dancing With the Stars’ Ralph Macchio. Macchio, whose rise to fame began with a starring role in Karate Kid, will be celebrating a momentous anniversary soon.
Macchio and his wife, Phyllis, are preparing to renew their vows for their upcoming 25th wedding anniversary. Of the renewal, Macchio says it is something he would be happy to do. “That would be really nice. We have a lot to celebrate; we’ve been through so much. We’ve earned it.”
The couple met in the 80s and have been together for the past quarter of a century. Macchio explains that commitment has kept them together. The star says, “Believing that you’re meant to be together and knowing at the end of the day that this is the person I should be with.”
Along with a special anniversary, Macchio is making plans to write his biography. He says “I think it’s time to tell my story. I don’t have a crazy background, but I have some things to tell.”
The Dancing with the Stars alum will not be the first in his generation of stars from the 80s to write a tell-all. Macchio notes that Rob Lowe’s recent biography was “definitely interesting.” The two were co-stars in Outsiders.
Pussycat Doll Nabs “DWTS” Mirror Ball Trophy. “Dancing with the Stars” has crowned its newest title holder. Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger managed to take home the highly coveted mirror ball trophy, beating sportscaster Erin Andrews and Olympian Evan Lysacek. Perhaps Scherzinger’s win wasn’t surprising in the least. She and pro partner Derek Hough almost always led the scoreboard in the past weeks, and she is a natural dancer, having lots of practice with her pop girl group. Lysacek and partner Anna Trebunskaya came in second place. The pair, like Scherzinger and Hough, also led the scoreboard numerous times. They nabbed 108 judges’ points before viewer votes were tallied. Coming in at third were Andrews and pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who got the highest points during their first dance of the week. Ousted contestants Pamela Anderson, Niecy Nash, Buzz Aldrin, and Kate Gosselin were all back to perform dance numbers, while Chad Ochocinco and pro partner Cheryl Burke cheered on the rest of the cast.
“DWTS” Contestant Erin Andrews Gets Death Threats. “Dancing with the Stars” contestant and ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews has learned that her life is being threatened. The menacing letters were sent to DirecTV’s “The Dan Patrick Show” since September but Andrews has only been informed about them recently. The messages allegedly started as sexual but it became violent beginning March 14. According to our source, Andrews, 31, is outraged at the network for hiding the letters from her. DirecTV apparently only notified her lawyer, Marshall Grossman, last week, even though the first email was sent on September 16, 2009. One of the letters read: “I hope she gets shot in the face. I would love to see if she can dance away from a hail of gunfire. That would really make my day.” Grossman told the website that they have notified the FBI as soon as they have learned of the sick emails. Although he did not disclose the name of the suspect, he says the FBI already knows his identity. He said, “Erin and her family are protected. It is unfortunate that there are sick people who prey on the fears and threaten the well being of others. Erin is not alone among those who have to deal with such predators.” Meanwhile, the security at ABC’s “DWTS” has been beefed up to better protect Andrews.
Another “Dancing With the Stars” results show. I’m going to keep the recap quick. First up, Taylor Swift performs. Then, we get a recap of last night’s performance show. Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough finished at the head of the pack with a 26. There’s a three-way tie at the bottom. The bottom couple will go home; the next two at the bottom will compete head to head in a dance off. Those couples will get to choose the dance. Oh, DWTS, having to keep changing the way things are done, otherwise no one will watch the results shows anymore, except for recappers. The first couple we learn are safe are Joanna and Derek. They are Continue reading →
Deborah Gibson has been a teen pop queen and a Broadway star and now she’s hoping to go “Dancing.” The “Electric Youth” singer hit her Twitter page earlier this week to express her interest in joining the celeb-reality show, and it appears her fans are championing her. On Friday, Deborah posted a Tweet, thanking her fans for starting a petition to get the singer on “Dancing With the Stars. “To Ashley who started DWTS petition! Thank u!” the “Only In My Dreams” singer wrote. “Let’s get crrrazy 1s of peeps to sign and then I’ll make them aware : )”Deborah hinted that her name has been in the ring for the ABC competition show before, but her appearance on FOX’s “Skating With Celebrities” in 2006, may have made producers weary of inviting her into the ballroom. ”DWTS won’t cast me cuz I did skating show!? I didn’t produce it – just on it! Did u guys know that? Start a petition!!!!” she wrote earlier this week. But all may not be lost, Deborah also noted that a number of those inside the “Dancing” camp want her on board. “Most of the team there wants me – 1or2 people are putting up a roadblock n every season my name’s in the ring,” she wrote.
