Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez Earn BET Award Nominations
The BET Awards are getting a little more inclusive this year. While Jay-Z leads the pack of nominations, followed by Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Trey Songz, and Melanie Fiona, there’s also a nod for Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. No need to adjust your screens. Bieber earned a nomination for Best New Artist. He’s up against Melanie Fiona, Nicki Minaj, Wale, and Young Money. Bieber has appeared on BET as his popularity started to rise, including performing his single “Baby” on the network’s “106 & Park” and participating in their “SOS Help For Haiti Benefit.” Gomez earns her nomination for the YoungStars Award, where she’s up against Keke Palmer, Lil JJ, Willow Smith, and Tyler James Williams. Unlike the Biebs, I’m not sure the words “Selena” and “Gomez” have been uttered together on BET. The 2010 BET Awards, airing Sunday, June 27th on BET, will feature performances Drake, Diddy, Nicki Minaj, Trey Songz, and others yet to be announced. Grammy Award-winner and Oscar nominee Queen Latifah has been tapped to host. “We are thrilled that Queen Latifah is going to host the BET AWARDS ’10,” said Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials for BET. “Her versatility as a performer perfectly matches the dynamism of our show. This will be the perfect 10. Get ready for stirring performances, a surprise that will knock you out and massive quantities of fun; all helmed by ‘The Queen.’” Other than possible appearances by Bieber and Gomez, the 10th anniversary of the BET Awards is also sure to feature some major surprises. Some past memorable performances include TLC, SWV, and EnVogue hitting the stage together, a reunion of The Fugees, a hosting stint from Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, and last year’s emotional tribute to Michael Jackson.
Janet Jackson, Jamie Foxx Lead Michael Jackson Tribute at BET Awards
Rather than mourn Michael Jackson’s death, the celebrities who took to the stage at the 2009 BET awards celebrated the memory of the King of Pop with pumped-up performances, heartfelt words and a surprise appearance by the star’s own sister Janet Jackson. The Shrine Auditorium ceremony kicked off with a tribute to young Michael, as ’80′s idols New Edition dressed up in funky ’70s-era clothes to sing the Jackson 5′s “ABC” and “The Love You Save.” Host Jamie Foxx emerged wearing an outfit reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s famous “Beat It” gear: red leather jacket, cropped black pants, high white socks and black loafers. The Oscar winner then performed a dance sequence from Jackson’s video, moonwalking (and stumbling) across the stage to honor the pop superstar. “We are here for the greatest. There’s no need to be sad,” said Foxx to a star-studded audience that included Diddy, Tyra Banks and Lil Wayne. Other notable performances included Beyoncé’s costume-changing medley of “Ave Maria” and Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel,” Ciara’s take on Jackson’s “Heal the World” and Queen Latifah’s duet with Mary Mary on the gospel duo’s “God in Me.” And in keeping with the night’s positive vibe, Alicia Keys and Wyclef Jean both received humanitarian awards for their charitable works. Tributes to the late star continued throughout the night, and father Joe Jackson shed a tear in the audience after Ne-Yo’s performance of the King of Pop’s “Lady in My Life.” (Jackson protégé Usher told he had hoped to make the ceremony but couldn’t get back from overseas in time; I look forward to seeing the show and I plan to work on a tribute to Michael Jackson when I return,” he said.) As the awards came to an end, Janet Jackson surprised the crowd by taking the stage to give thanks to fans for their support in the wake of her brother’s death. “My entire family wanted to be here tonight, but it was just too painful, so they elected me to be here,” Janet Jackson said. “I’d just like to say, to you, Michael is an icon, to us, Michael is family. And he will forever live in all of our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love, thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much.” After she left the stage, Foxx and Ne-Yo closed the show with the Jackson 5′s “I’ll Be There.” Here’s the complete list of winners from the 2009 BET Awards:

Diddy cleans Up Miami
Diddy is back to save the world. Well, at least Miami. In this Monday night`s episode of CSI Miami airing in the United States, Diddy will make his debut as a Federal Prosecutor.
Diddy will be Attorney Derek Powell in the next two shows.
Powell is believed to be involved in a murder cover-up and faces Horatio Caine (David Caruso) in the courtroom.
It is not Diddy’s first time as an actor. He played the husband of Halle Berry’ character in Monster’s Ball in 2001. He was a convicted murderer sentenced to death.
He also had a stage role in 2004 in the Broadway revival of ‘A Raisin In The Sun’.
His CSI Miami appearance is just one more thing to add to the resume. The only unanswered question is ‘Is that suit a Sean Combs’?
