Ryan Reynolds Named People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive”. Ryan Reynolds joins the ranks of Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Johnny Depp as he’s named this year’s Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine. The 34-year-old actor had been previously honored by the magazine in 2009 and 2008, but this year is the first time the star, who suits up for “The Green Lantern” next year, has taken the title and the cover. “The most difficult part is going to be organically working this title into a conversation with random strangers,” Reynolds joked to People magazine. It also didn’t hurt that Reynolds has been showing off his abs for years in films like “The Proposal,” “The Amityville Horror,” and “Blade: Trinity.” If that’s not enough, he’s also covered many a Men’s Health magazine. “My body naturally wants to look like Dick Van Dyke,” he jokes. “When I stop training, I turn into a skin-colored whisper.” He also expects home life with his wife of two years, actress Scarlett Johansson, to change. “Now it’s going to be, ‘Sexiest man, take out the garbage.’ That does sound better,” he said. Also scoring Sexiest Man honors this year are Jon Hamm, Jon Bon Jovi, Joe Manganiello of “True Blood,” and “Twilight” star Kellan Lutz.

Actress Dorothy Provine dies at 75. Dorothy Provine, a leggy bouffant blonde who appeared in such films as “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World” and on TV’s “The Roaring ’20s,” died April 25 from emphysema at a hospice in Bremerton, Washington. She was 75. A native of Deadwood, South Dakota, Provine reportedly landed the role of the titlular bank robber in 1958’s “Bonnie Parker Story” just three days after arriving in Hollywood. She also appeared as the radiation-exposed tall woman in “The 30 Foot Bride of Candy Rock” (1959) opposite Lou Costello and in “Good Neighbor Sam” (1964) as the suburban wife of Jack Lemmon. In Stanley Kramer’s 1963 madcap comedy “Mad Mad World,” Provine played the wife of Milton Berle and the daughter of Ethel Merman; they are among the loopy groups in pursuit of $350,000 in stolen loot. Provine also appeared in “Live Fast, Die Young” (1958), “Riot in Juvenile Prison” (1959) and “Never a Dull Moment” (1968) alongside Dick Van Dyke and Edward G. Robinson. On TV, Provine starred as flapper Pinky Pinkham in “The Roaring ’20s,” a Chicago-set period crime drama that ran from 1960-62 on ABC. Provine left the business in the late ’70s and moved to Bainbridge Island in Washington state. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, TV director Robert Day.
