Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin have bought a ‘spectacular’ new property in Los Angeles, it has been reported.
The couple are believed to have splashed out close to the $10,450,000 asking price for the six-bedroom mansion, which is situated on the west side of the city.
The beautiful house has been designed by famed architect Windsor Smith and is set in spacious grounds surrounded by Sycamore trees, boasting a guesthouse and stables.
‘Gwyneth Paltrow is in escrow on one of the most spectacular estates on the west side of L.A. and it”s costing her and hubby Chris Martin a pretty penny,’ TMZ reports. ‘The house – courtesy of famed architect Windsor Smith – was listed for $10,450,000. We”re told Gwyneth and Chris paid close to the asking price. The house has six bedrooms and eight baths, which means their two kids will probably each get their own rooms.’
The luxury white abode features a pale grey slate roof and a grand gated entrance. The inside is light and airy thanks to the many floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful wooden floors.
Built in 2011, the property was originally listed at close to $12million but has recently been reduced.
The ‘Every Teardrop is a Waterfall’ hitmakers ‘ who will headline the festival in Somerset, South West England, on Saturday (25.06.11) ‘ admitted nerves are already mounting in anticipation of the event, which they believe is “the mother” of all music events.
Guitarist Jonny Buckland said: “It’s the ultimate festival, the mother of all festivals, the peak, and the one we dreamed of playing when we were kids. I’m already feeling nervous!”
Meanwhile, frontman Chris Martin compared receiving the phone call from Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis asking them to perform to being “asked to dance” by ‘Twilight star Robert Pattinson.
He joked: “It was like getting asked to dance by Robert Pattinson if you’re a young girl.”
Coldplay have performed at the festival four times previously, on smaller stages in 1999 and 2000 and headlining in 2002 and 2005.
The band will appear alongside fellow headliners Beyonce Knowles and U2 over the course of the festival and Jonny joked they are hoping the latter play a set which allows them to eclipse them in terms of performance.
He added to NME magazine: “We’re hoping they’ll do a B-sides and rarities set . with no lights. At least we’re definitely taller than U2, by about a foot.
The Oscar-winning actress – who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin – has revealed she is a huge fan of hip-hop music and her favourite group of all time is N.W.A.
And she can rap every lyric to the controversial song, which was released in 1988 and was an alleged violence condoning protest song aimed at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
In an interview with her friend Jay-Z posted on his new website lifeandtimes.com, she revealed: “I first was exposed to hip-hop when I was about 16 (1988) by some boys who went to collegiate. The Beastie Boys were sort of the way in for us preppie kids. We were into Public Enemy, Run-DMC and LL Cool J. But then I went to Los Angeles the summer between my junior and senior year of high school and I discovered N.W.A which became my obsession … It was an accident that I learned every word of ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and to love something that a) I had no real understanding of in terms of the culture that it was emanating from and b) to love something that my parents literally could not grasp. But I was hooked. I can’t remember what I ate for dinner last night but I could sing to you every single word of N.W.A’s ‘F**k Tha Police’. Go figure.”
‘Straight Outta Compton’ was the album released by N.W.A – whose original line-up featured Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren, Arabian Prince and DJ Yella – which contained the song in its tracklisting.
As well as her love of gangsta rap, Gwyneth – who recently unveiled her own vocal talents in the movie ‘Country Strong’ and on TV show ‘Glee’ – also revealed she is a massive fan of Nirvana.
When quizzed by hip-hop mogul Jay on her other musical tastes, she said: “I was never super into ’80s or ’90s pop. Aside from the hip-hop I loved, I was very into alternative stuff like New Order and The Cure and bands like Yaz and Book of Love. But when Nirvana came out, my mind was kind of blown. I remember sitting around a record player playing ‘Nevermind’ for days in a row with my college friends really mesmerised by that record, as everybody was at the time. I couldn’t believe my ears.”
The ‘Country Strong’ star works out almost every day to stay in shape, and when she first started getting serious about exercise and healthy eating her trainer Tracy Anderson told she needed to change her ‘square’ derriere.
Revealing her problem, Gwyneth told the new issue of Self magazine: ‘My butt! My butt, butt, butt. When Tracy met me, she said that I had a long, square butt that she was going to redesign, and I was like, ‘Yeah? Good luck.’ The amazing thing is, she was right! And it’s still changing!’
The 38-year-old actress ‘ who has children Apple, six, and Moses, five, with her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin ‘ insists the secret to staying slim is finding a fitness and diet regime that works for you and can be maintained.
And Gwyneth is adamant it’s important to allow yourself occasional indulgences otherwise you get bored.
The Oscar winner ‘ who has just released her own cookbook ‘My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness’ – explained: ‘ do 45 minutes of cardio five days a week, because I like to eat. I also try for 45 minutes of muscular structure work, which is toning, realigning and lengthening. If I’m prepping for something or I’ve been eating a lot of pie, I do two hours a day, six days a week for two weeks.
‘ say I always eat right, but the other night I had fried clams, pasta with duck sausage and two glasses of red wine. When I want to lose, I eat less pasta, bread and potatoes.’
Coldplay’s new album is “developing a recognisable form”. The ‘Viva La Vida’ group – comprising Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Jonny Buckland – are presently working on their long-awaited fifth album in London and a source close to them says the tracks are now taking shape.
The band’s Roadie #42 blog explained: “Back in the studio, the songs are now very much pushing their heads above the soil and straining towards the light.
“I suspect the band has had a reasonable idea all along of how things will feel when they’re finished.
“There’s been much chiselling and smoothing and now things are really developing a recognisable form and an emotional resonance.”
The recording sessions ‘ overseen by producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs ‘ are even at the stage where the group are recording vocals, with the blog adding: ‘There’s no better aural equivalent of the bursting growth of spring than the laying on of backing vocals.
‘The fellas are gathered around the mic for much of the time. It’s a tremendous thing to get close up to.
“When the guys are belting it out with the track on headphones, all that can be heard in the room is the blast of harmonies. It’s huge, powerful and yet completely unaided by technology, just a pure, organic human bloom.”
The album is yet to have a release date confirmed.
The actress unveiled her voice in the movie ‘Country Strong’ and has impressed in recent months with a series of live performances leading to her to start negotiations with Atlantic Records about releasing a country album. A source told the New York Post newspaper: ‘Gwyneth’s agents have been talking to a number of labels about landing her a substantial record deal. Those who have heard the music say it’s country pop. In recent weeks there have been discussions with Atlantic. Gwyneth is a very different name for Atlantic, and one who brings a lot of recognition.” If she does sign, the ‘Iron Man ‘ star would be able to count Sean Paul, B.o.B, James Blunt and Kid Rock among her label mates. Gwyneth ‘ who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin ‘ most recently performed at the Oscars, singing a rendition of nominated song ‘Coming Home’ from ‘Country Strong’. She also duetted with Cee Lo Green at the Grammy Awards, with the pair performing a version of his hit ‘Forget You’. At the Oscars last month, the 38-year-old blonde revealed she wanted to work with Jay-Z ‘ who she and Chris are close friends with. In an interview on the red carpet, she said: “I think Jay-Z and I would be a good combination. He is a genius – and I’m his biggest fan.”
Coldplay have been approaching new songs ‘as though they are a metal band’. The group ‘ comprising Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Jonny Buckland ‘ are presently working on their long-awaited fifth album and love experimenting with playing them in different ways, with often surprising results. Their Roadie #42 blog explained: ‘Chris suggests playing a gorgeous melody as though they are a metal band. The first stab at this is predictably (and intentionally) comedic. ‘They pursue it though, playing one section over and over in a loop, varying the dynamic from pin drop quiet to aggressive and bolshy. They move through the transitions as one unit, as though someone is pressing their foot smoothly on some huge gas pedal somewhere.’ Ash frontman Tim Wheeler has been working with the ‘Fix you’ hitmakers on an as-yet unnamed track, and the roadie revealed the music he completed with the band was based on a small improvisation the ‘Oh Yeah’ singer came up with when practicing. The blog explained: ‘Tim straps on a guitar and jumps into the day’s tune. He’s fiddling around at the top of the neck, looking for melodies, just throwing out streams of notes. ‘Chris starts to call over the mic ‘What was that?’. He sings a tiny snippet of something that Tim played only once – almost as something to just get his fingers moving. ‘t’s such a tiny cluster of notes that for a while it’s unclear where they should fall in the chord sequence until finally they drop into place and twinkle like they’ve been there all along, just waiting to be discovered.’
Coldplay album delayed until next year. Chris Martin has confirmed there will no longer be a new Coldplay album before the year is out, and that does not make his cash strapped company EMI happy. “There ain’t gonna be a release for Christmas now that is for sure,’ reports coldplaying, com. ‘Chris (Martin) said that although they are close to finishing lots of songs, they have not actually finished anything at all yet… (even Wedding Bells!) and he said there’d be no chance of the album coming out for Christmas. Phil (Harvey) said the same, and that even if they were finished by now, there would not be enough time for EMI to sort all of the “fiddly bits”. Also, I asked about how long the tour would be starting, after the album release, since for Viva it was really soon, and Phil said that they’d leave a slightly longer gap this time.” EMI needs a new Coldplay record desperately. This week, the company fired three major executives in its never-ending attempt to reinvent itself. EMI MUSIC COO RONN WERRE, New Music International Pres. BILLY MANN, and New Music/NORTH AMERICA, U.K. and IRELAND Pres. NICK GATFIELD had their heads chopped off this week. According to coldplaying.com the last two months have not been as completely productive as first imagined. But he also said ‘You can’t rush things like this!’” Coldplay fans will have to wait until 2011 for the fifth Coldplay album since 1999. For the record, the entire Beatles career (and all 13 studio albums), happened over 8 years.
Gwyneth Paltrow says wearing shorts is ‘ridiculous’ . Gwyneth Paltrow thinks wearing shorts as a 37-year-old mother-of-two is “ridiculous”. The actress – who has children Apple, five and Moses, four, with Coldplay singer Chris Martin – admits she has to work hard to maintain her trim physique, but her friend Tracy Anderson’s dance workout helps her get into shape. She said: “This 26-minute long video was an amazing start for getting the butt and legs I had always hoped for. “This regime got me into the shape of my life and I continue to return to it when I have a specific event so that I can do ridiculous things like be a 37-year-old mother-of-two and wear shorts!” Writing in her GOOP newsletter, Gwyneth also claims she has to diet in short spurts to get good results. “To really get in line, I follow her strict diet for five days to lose my extra winter weight. Now, I am not a good dieter and I cannot every do it for long – only when there is a goal in sight, which there was in this case.” Previously the ‘Iron Man 2′ star has revealed her distaste at the idea of dieting, and claims she puts on weight as soon as she thinks about cutting down on food. She said: “I had to work hard to get it like this, but now I’m here it’s so great because I don’t have to think about it. I can just enjoy life. What a relief is that. “I can eat what I want, as long as I exercise, which is just as well, because if I put the word ‘diet’ into my brain, I immediately gain a stone.”
Robbie Williams, Lady Gaga and Kasabian to perform at BRITs. ’Angels’ singer Robbie – who has previously spoken of how his severe stage fright has halted his live performances – will perform a short set to commemorate recieiving a lifetime achievement award, with rumours rife that he will reunite with his former Take That bandmates for the second time since launching a solo career in 1996. A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘Take That could reunite with Robbie to perform his second track. It’s the band’s 20th anniversary year and they and they are in talks about doing something spectacular.’ Robbie previously joined Take That and a host of other stars onstage for a rendition of Beatles song ‘Hey Jude’ at a concert in aid of charity Children in Need in November last year. Meanwhile, rap superstar Jay-Z is rumoured to be making an appearance at the show, and will possibly perform with ‘Viva La Vida’ hitmakers Coldplay, fronted by Chris Martin. A source said: ‘As well as bringing Alicia Keys on stage to do a rendition of their hit ‘Empire State of Mind’, he’s thinking of getting Coldplay involved too. Chris Martin and Jay have been pals for years.’ Meanwhile, Lady Gaga will not be able to realise her plan of performing alongside reality TV sensation Susan Boyle at the awards show – as the latter has reportedly been snubbed from nominations because she is ‘not cool’ enough. Susan– who rose to fame after appearing on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, one of media mogul Simon Cowell’s TV shows – is said to have missed out on a nod in any category, despite being the biggest selling female artist of 2009 in the UK. A source said: ‘She’s not even shortlisted for Best Female, even though that’s usually the weakest category. ‘And it’s not just an attack on Susan. It also shows how Simon Cowell is regarded by many in the record business.’ However, one collaboration which will definitely take place at the awards will be between Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine in a specially conceived track called ‘You Got The Dirtee Love’, a mash up of their tracks ‘You Got The Love’ and ‘Dirtee Cash’. ‘Beat Again’ hitmakers JLS have also been confirmed to sing at the ceremony, which takes place at London’s Earls Court on 16 February. The nominations for the BRIT Awards will be announced tonight (18.01.10).
