Birmingham to Host Massive Music Festival on Sat, 3rd October

The WombatsOn October 3rd, Birmingham will become the ultimate destination for students and music fans alike as Block Party takes over several streets of Digbeth with its blend of headline acts, DJ’s, super-clubbing and one-of-a-kind street party vibe. Rebels with a cause

 pixie-lott2We were the first to hear the first mix of the War Child charity single – and we reckon it’s going to be massive. Pixie Lott, N-Dubz, Tinchy Stryder, VV Brown, Kid British and Chipmunk are some of the hot new talent – working collectively as the Young Soul Rebels – recording I Got Soul, due out in August.  N-Dubz star Fazer tells us: “We’re really behind the cause. We just had to get involved.”

The tunes are all present and correct, of course, but it’s the voice that hits you round the head  like a Tom & Jerry frying pan: this potent, rich and addictive voice with the depth and maturity of a soul diva combined with the vim and dexterity of a teenage pop princess, all somehow, almost impossibly, coming from the mouth of a singer so perfectly packaged that people call her Pixie – 18 years old and still buzzing from the novelty of being able to go clubbing without her older sister’s ID.

Deadmau5 top dance tent at Reading and Leeds

deadmau5Deadmau5 will headline the Dance Stage at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Other names taking on Leeds on the Saturday (29 August) before moving down to Reading for the Sunday (30 August) will be Chase And Status, MSTRKRFT and Vitalic will make their only UK festival performance of 2009 at the events.  Female rapper Lady Sovereign, The Crystal Method and The Qemists have also been added to the bill along with Chipmunk, 3Oh!3 and Master Shortie.  Das Pop will only perform at Reading Festival, while Mixhell will only play up in Leeds. L’Armour L’Armourge will also play over the weekend.  Today’s additions join headliners Kings Of Leon, Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys as well as The Gossip, Glasvegas, Kaiser Chiefs and more.
