Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson denies Beach Boys reunion

Brian Wilson has put an end to rumours of a Beach Boys reunion. He says he didn’t even know it was happening.

In the world of on-again-off-again relationships, there may be none greater than Brian Wilson and the rest of the Beach Boys who have been pondering, at a minimum, a reunion concert to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Thumbs up on the concept has come from Al Jardine and Mike Love while Brian Wilson has flip-flopped between maybe and “what?”

In a new interview with the Village Voice, Wilson is back to the latter, saying he isn’t aware of any plans. “I don’t know anything about that. I don’t really [have a relationship with the other members] right now, and I’m not really interested in them.”

The full interview will be published in the June 8 issue of the Voice where Wilson will also delve into ending his touring days, his George Gershwin album and the upcoming release of the Beach Boys’ album Smile.

Katy Perry To Edit Beach Boys Reference Out Of “California Gurls”

Katy Perry To Edit Beach Boys Reference Out Of "California Gurls"

Katy Perry To Edit Beach Boys Reference Out Of “California Gurls”. Though Katy Perry has been riding a huge wave of success with her hit “California Gurls,” the Beach Boys are trying to crash it. They’re trying to get compensation for her own homage to West Coast women. Beach Boys’ infamous “California Girls,” or maybe not if you’re a young fan of Katy Perry’s, features the lyrics “I wish they all could be California girls.” On Perry’s hit, Snoop Dogg utters the line at the end of the song during what seems to be some recorded ad-libbing. But Rondor, the copyright owners for Beach Boys Brian Wilson and Mike Love’s original “California Girls,” want some of that “California Gurls” cash. They’re asking for royalties from the single, which has sold over 3 million digital copies. While Rondor is threatening to sue Perry for plagiarism, the singer has already addressed the issue in her latest Rolling Stone article. There, she basically states that the song will be undergoing some cuts. “As much as I want a Beach Boys credit on my album, we have to take it out,” Perry told Rolling Stone about the Snoop Dogg-uttered line. While Snoop Dogg won’t be wishing they all could be California girls anymore, the song will hit record stores on her upcoming album sans the Beach Boys as co-writers. “Teenage Dream,” Perry’s follow-up to “One of the Boys,” is out August 24th
