THE XCERTS’ story began around the turn of the century when then 13-year-olds Murray MacLeod (vocals, guitar) and Jordan Smith (bass, vocals) met in the headmaster’s office of their school in Aberdeen. In 2006 they relocated to Brighton and met drummer and Exeter exile Tom Heron, where the line-up of THE XCERTS was finalised. After a barrage of dates with Future of the left, Bat for Lashes, Biffy Clyro, Make Model, Cage the Elephant, Brakes, Get Cape.Wear Cape. Fly and Fighting with Wire and recent supports with Enter Shikari and Feeder, THE XCERTS are gearing up for recording their debut full length album late summer with producer Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers / Idlewild) . They’re a double edged sword of ferocious guitar and dainty, poetic words - a distorted pop band who fuse the influences of fellow countrymen Idlewild and Biffy Clyro with the thoughtful approach to songwriting of old school ‘emo’ bands like Jimmy Eat World and Bright Eyes. Play In-store Tour and hit Loch Ness for the Release of ‘In the Cold Wind We Smile’! Hot on the heels of the release of their mighty, anthemic single ‘Crisis in the Slow Lane’ The Xcerts can now confirm that they will be embarking on an in-store tour the week that their album ‘In The Cold Wind We Smile’ is released (30th March). Each show will be FREE, feature a live performance from the band and allow fans to get their copy of the band’s debut album signed.

How many bands can you think of that run their own book club? Most fans go to a show expecting to hear music. Aside from the library of books The Seal Cub Clubbing Club bring along for fans to take away or contribute to – and their super tongue twister of a name, The SCCC also deliver music – amazing music, as you will hear on their debut album ‘Super Science Fiction’ – out 20 April 2009.

Recorded under the guiding hand of producer Barney (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, and the Enemy) and following on from two limited edition self titled EP’s recorded by Paul Tipler (Stereolab, iForward, Russia!, 80’s Matchbox B-Line Disaster), ‘Super Science Fiction’ is a smartly diverse collection of songs ‘that veers dangerously close to being unlistenable without actually becoming so.’, the band tell us.

In the shortest time since they first came together on the Wirral Peninsual, this enigmatic Liverpool 5 piece have been on tour with The Fall, British Sea Power, Field Music, Black Wire, Brakes (twice) and Idiot Pilot, enjoyed support from the likes of Steve Lamacq, who brought them in for interview on his BBC 6 Music radio show and played Glastonbury 2008.

On 24th and 25th April, the Gaymers Camden Crawl will play host to over a mile and a half of fantastic new talent for over thirty hours across more than forty venues including the legendary Koko hosted by headline sponsors Gaymers.

As well as its customary stellar line up of live music acts, the festival will feature a vast array of interactive daytime activities and cutting edge performances across the arts, including visual art, comedy, spoken word, theatre and much more.

The programme kicks off from midday on Friday the 24th until the wee hours of the following Sunday. Upon arrival each ticket holder will be presented with an all-access wristband, programme guide, timetable and free download album to help plot his/her day’s adventure. ‘Crawlers’ are granted unlimited access to all official festival venues featuring more than 150 live artists, daytime activities & arts programme and aftershow parties capacity permitting. In keeping with Crawl tradition and the spirit of discovery, the full line-ups and stage times remain a closely guarded secret until each night and surprise guests may appear at any time and at any venue.
