Mexican Miss Universe has Bollywood dreams

Jimena Navarrete,

Jimena Navarrete,

The reigning Miss Universe has designs on the Hindi Film Industry, popularly known as the Bollywood, and she has expressed, in no uncertain terms, that she was willing to consider good offers from the land of Masala movies.
Miss Universe Jimena Navarrete, who is currently in India on a tour to promote a noble cause, has said, “Till now I haven’t been offered any roles but would love to work in Hindi films. I have seen Indian actors, they all are very handsome. I don’t know much Hindi and can only say ‘Namaste’ but I am willing to learn it.” The Mexican beauty could well take a lesson or two from her compatriot, Barbara Mori, who made her Hindi film debut last year in February with “Kites.” Currently on a 10-day trip, Jimena has said that she is a big fan of Salman Khan, whom she met during this trip, organized as part of a campaign to celebrate the girl child. About Salman Khan, she said, “I’ve heard so much about Salman. I really want to see some of his films, too.” In an attempt to establish her seriousness about Bollywood, Jimena also said that she was ready to sing as well as dance just like the Indian actors and was hoping someone would make her an offer. In India to promote designer Sanjana Jon’s “Celebrate the Girl Child” campaign, Jimena also visited a shrine near Mumbai besides taking part in a number of charity commitments.

Aishwarya Turns 37, Remains On Top Of Her Game

Aishwarya Turns 37, Remains On Top Of Her Game

Aishwarya Turns 37, Remains On Top Of Her Game. She is the one with the beautiful face who continues to flourish in both Bollywood and Hollywood. As she readies for another run at the box office with two big-budget movies lined up, former beauty queen Aishwarya Rai also prepares to celebrate her 37th birthday on Tuesday. One of the most beautiful leading ladies in the Hindi film industry, Rai has come a long way since being crowned Miss World in 1994 and beginning her film career with a lesser-known but critically-acclaimed film, “Iruvar.” She is counted among the most successful actors of her generation. Her face still launches a number of brands every year and her appearances at Cannes year-after-year are as talked about as those of Eva Longoria and Kate Winslet. However, the most significant aspect of her 13-year-long film career remains her metamorphosis into being a “director’s delight.”Her upcoming films, “Guzaarish” with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and “Action Replayy” with Vipul Shah, are totally opposite to each other in terms of the characters she is playing. In the first, she plays a nurse to a paraplegic Hrithik Roshan, a pivotal role when Hrithik begs for mercy killing. In the second, she plays an over-the-top character of a typical Hindi film heroine, who shakes a leg or two and even dons colorful saris while romancing Akshay Kumar in the style of the 1970s. She is a much-reckoned artiste today, who is praised not only for her professional attitude but also for her complete surrender to her directors. However, despite being married into the first family of Hindi filmdom, the Bachchans, led by her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan, and having achieved international fame, Aishwarya remains as grounded as ever. Subhash Ghai, who worked with her in 1999 success “Taal,” says that she will still be in the reckoning even 10 years from now. Bhansali calls her the “timeless beauty” and says, quite emphatically, that “she understands me.” Her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, leaves no stone unturned in heaping praise on wife dearie, as he says, “I feel great about Aishwarya’s achievements, I am very proud of her,” he told The Hindu newspaper. “Whatever adulation she has got, she truly deserves it. I’m happy that she broke the notion that women can’t work after marriage.” However, in comparison to her rocking career and life, Aishwarya’s birthday plans remains simple. She told the Times of India, “Time with family is celebration for me, and it’s more than enough.”

Bollywood’s Gutsy Actor Turns Singer In Hollywood. She is known for her gutsy moves both onscreen and off, but now Bollywood actor Mallika Sherawat will be holding a microphone for her singing debut in the Hollywood project ‘Hisss.’ The music for the film has been composed by Beatles’ legend John Lennon’s son Julian Lennon. Sherawat, who spent a year in Los Angeles, shooting for the film and her other assignments, landed in Mumbai recently and announced that she had recorded the song in Los Angeles and it would be released during the film promos, which are to go on air soon. The film also has another song in Mallika’s voice, which has been recorded by German music director Alexander Von Bubenheim, who has, incidentally, also recorded the background music for the film. The film would be released in October this year
