Mr Hudson and Crowded House added to IOW. The summer’s hottest festival just raised the temperature as yet more acts have been announced to play the main stage at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival. R&B star Mr Hudson and new wave Oregon band Hockey perform on Friday 11th of June, while Crowded House will bring the weather with them on Saturday 12th of June. Today’s newly announced acts join an amazing line up including Jay-Z, The Strokes, Blondie, Pink, Calvin Harris, Doves, Vampire Weekend, Spandau Ballet, Paloma Faith, Orbital and Friendly Fires. Riding high since signing to Kanye West’s label, Mr Hudson has gained fans, awards and praise alike including winning the ‘Best breakthrough Act’ at the Q Awards. The Birmingham born singer promises to be an unmissable act.Guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of festival goers Crowded House join the Isle of Wight Festival line up after reuniting in 2006. There is nothing sweet about Gabriella Cilmi on her new song. The `Sweet About Me` has upped the tempo on her new song `On A Mission`.
`On A Mission` is closer toward “pop Kylie” than the “soul Amy Winehouse” sound of the new album but gives Gabriella a new sound. Her second studio album will follow-up the globally successful ‘Lessons To Be Learned”. Gabriella has been working on the record with Danger Mouse of Gnarls Barkley fame. She has previously revealed that Blondie was a big influence for her with his record. Brian Higgins (Girls Aloud) has also been in the studio for the yet-to-be named album.

Gabriella really showed her true colours when she performed at SXSW and rocked out more than a lot of the rock acts. As well as channelling Blondie, she has been absorbing influences from the likes of Led Zeppelin as well.

Julian Casablancas reveals release date for debut solo album

The Strokes Julian Casablancas has announced the UK release date for his debut solo album – ‘Phrazes For The Young’, as being October 19. (October 20 in the US) Revealed on his website , The Strokes man also revealed that fans will be able pre-order the album directly from his site soon. Casablancas confirmed he is planning to play gigs in the UK soon. “It will probably be October, roughly,” he said.
