New Kids On The Block, Backstreet Boys Confirm Joint Tour, AMAs Performance. Fans of both multi-platinum boy bands New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys will be able to see all nine guys on one stage during the officially confirmed NKOTBSB Tour and during a special performance at the American Music Awards this month. Announced today on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and confirmed by Live Nation, the NKOTBSB tour will visit Toronto, New York, New Jersey, Chicago, and Los Angeles, with more cities and dates to be announced soon. The first date of the NKOTOBSB tour, at Toronto’s Air Canada Center, will take place June 9th, with tickets for the shows to go on sale beginning November 19th. Rumors of a joint Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block tour began when they took the stage together at NKOTB’s sold-out Radio City Music Hall show. “It started when we got together at Radio City Music Hall a few months back. We wanted to do something big for the crowd in NY. So we got the Backstreet Boys to come down to Radio City and we put together a performance of ‘I Want It That Way’ in about 5 minutes. It was electric,” the New Kids said on Ryan Seacrest’s show. “Something happened when they came out on stage. The crowd went to a place that we never heard it go to before,” they added. “We started talking, people started talking, and it seemed right. It’s really just going to be an amazing night of pop music and pop culture.” “We are blessed. This is a wonderful opportunity for fans of all— not only New Kids fans, or Backstreet fans, but fans of music,” added the Backstreet Boys. “It’s not about who opens or who closes.  It’s a night of continuous music, hit after hit. We are going to give people a show to remember.” But fans won’t have to wait until Summer 2011 to see the New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys on one stage. Both bands have been announced to perform together at the “2010 American Music Awards,” airing live Sunday, November 21st. It’ll be the first time they’ve performed together for a televised audience. “New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys on one stage is something special. Moments like these are what the AMAs are all about,” said AMA producer Larry Klein.

Backstreet Boys Leave Jive Records

While it’s been years since Backstreet Boys were able to sell over 10 million copies of a disc stateside (but really, who has?), the one-time boy band phenom are leaving their home of over 15 years. The boys have slipped from Jive Records. Jive Records signed the boys back in March of 1994, where they went on to release their first album overseas before finally hitting big in the U.S. in 1997. They then went on to sell over 130 million records worldwide on the label, which is currently the home to acts such as Britney Spears and Kris Allen. Their last album, the under-rated “This Is Us,” saw the boys collaborating with Max Martin, responsible for their biggest hit “I Want It That Way,” as well as new producers like RedOne and Ryan Tedder. The album failed to sell over a million copies. The split, according to the Boys, is amicable. “This is the best thing, at the best time that could have ever happened for us”, said member Brian Littrell. “We are confident in the future of our band, and are looking forward to the new things to come. 2011 is going to be a great year for us!” The boys are currently on tour in support of “This Is Us.” They recently kicked off the tour, hitting Miami on May 29th, and are scheduled to continue through the summer, wrapping up in Cleveland on August 27th.
