Muse the alternative rock band
Posted in: Bios, Buzz Bands, Music News by newsdesk on March 14, 2025
Muse is a alternative rock band from Teignmouth, England, United Kingdom. The band consists of Matthew Bellamy on lead vocals, piano, keyboard and guitar, Chris Wolstenholme on backing vocals and bass guitar, and Dominic Howard on drums and percussion.
They have been friends since their formation in early 1990 and changed band names a number of times (such as Gothic Plague, Fixed Penalty, and Rocket Baby Dolls) before adopting the name Muse. Since the release of their fourth album, Morgan Nicholls has also appeared with the band at live performances to provide keyboards, samples/synth, and backing vocals.
Their sound is a blend of alternative rock, classical music, electronica, metal, spanish guitars, and progressive rock. Usually they use the bass line as the driving force, often with the guitar providing only an extra layer to the song rather than carrying the melody, the bass has distortion and other effects applied to it to achieve a greater weight, allowing the guitar to digress from the main tune and play higher notes. Another peculiarity is Muse´s piano style in many of their songs; their music has been inspired by the works of Romantic pianist-composers such as Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Liszt, and has thus resulted in a fusion of Romantic style with modern rock.
The band is known for their energetic live performances and front man Matthew Bellamy’s eccentric and avid interests in global conspiracy, extraterrestrial life, theology and the apocalypse (as much as in Space and theoretical physics). Their lyrical themes involve madcap conspiracy theory, revolutionary rabble-rousing, weird stuff about aliens (or Zetas, if you please), religions and other such classic Muse concerns.
Mel B thinks all celebs should have charitable causes
Posted in: Music News by newsdesk on December 21, 2024
Mel B thinks celebrities who don’t give to charity are “disgusting”.
The former Spice Girl believes everyone in the public eye should use their fame to help others and can’t understand why some refuse.
She blasted: “Do you know what, I think it’s disgusting when a celebrity isn’t doing something for charity.
“It feels so good and it’s so easy - when you’ve got the money and you’ve got the exposure - to give something back.”
Mel, 33, insists her involvement with numerous good causes has made her become a tougher parent to daughters, Phoenix, nine, and 20-month-old Angel.
She added: “If Phoenix starts crying because she wants something, I say, ‘What’s the matter? Are you hungry? In pain? No, well stop right now because there are a lot of children in the world a lot worse off than you.
“And the good thing is I can actually come out with the facts which I know now because I support a few charities like Oxfam.”
Singles of the Year
Posted in: Coffee Talk, News by Jason Halliwell on December 18, 2024
Beyoncé grabbed the ring, My Morning Jacket swung for the bleachers, Lil Wayne cracked up and Coldplay ruled the world Love has always been a high-stakes business transaction for Beyoncé, ever since that lousy boyfriend maxed out her credit card in “Bills, Bills, Bills.” “Single Ladies” is her definitive statement on that subject. The beat, courtesy of The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, is irresistible and exuberant, the vocal hook is stormy and virtuosic, and her lesson is blunt: Seal the deal. With a shiny ring. Or else.
Robert Pattinson, One of MTV News’ Men of the Year
Posted in: Coffee Talk by Jason Halliwell on December 17, 2024
His hair and rumored affair with Camilla Belle are among the other things that land Robert Pattinson on MTV News’ list of Men of the Year.
Becoming a household name ever since he starred as Edward Cullen in vampire blockbuster “Twilight”, Robert Pattinson is counted by MTV News as one of its Men of the Year. The British actor is listed at No. 4, right behind Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers who is at No. 3 and one spot ahead of Robert Downey Jr. who is ranked 5th.
Acting aside, MTV News credits Robert for singing a pair of songs on the “Twilight” soundtrack. He makes the list, moreover, because he has become the “subject of innumerable bits of fan fiction too risque and/or disturbing to reprint” on the site. MTV News also mentions his hair, rumored affair with Camilla Belle, and upcoming movie “Little Ashes” among the other things that make him covered in countless media headlines.
MTV News’ Men of the Year lists stars who are considered big during the year and have “inspired the most headlines or generated the biggest amount of buzz”. Making the round are Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel, Nick Jonas, T-Pain, T.I., and Pete Wentz, all of whom secure the 6th to 10th spots respectively.
Rap artist Kanye West is also included in the list, being ranked at No. 2. Meanwhile, MTV News won’t reveal its Man of the Year until Thursday, December 11.

Kidman ‘unafraid of film flops’
Posted in: Coffee Talk by Jason Halliwell on December 6, 2024
Nicole Kidman has said she is unafraid of ‘falling flat on her face’ by making riskier film choices.
The actress - now 41 - said she has worried less about her career as she has got older. “I’m much more brave, and kind of throw myself into it and try not worry if I fall flat on my face. It’s easy to become frightened of making a fool of yourself, particularly if, like mine, your nature is a bit reticent and shy to begin with. But I’m getting over it,” she told The Independent.
“The older I get, the more I feel like I’m on a rollercoaster when I do a film.”
Kidman also described the year she spent filming Australia with Baz Luhrmann and Hugh Jackman as “magical” and “amazing”.
