Super Bowl Commercials Offer Laughs And Disappointments. Every year, we all tune into the Super Bowl, not just for the awesome football or curiosity of the halftime performances (remember Janet Jackson?), but also to see what commercials have been whipped up for our enjoyment. This year’s ads, as usual, offered a variety of laughs and disappointments, while some just left us shaking our heads. Some of the funniest commercials were by far the Snickers and Doritos commercials. So far, the Snickers’ commercial seems to be getting the highest reviews. Funnywoman Betty White is drawing laughs from fans all over the world, continuing to show that White can keep us entertained while poking fun at the male half. In the commercial, White is shown being tackled in during a backyard football game, with Abe Vigoda closing the ad with a funny appearance. Doritos kept us laughing with a little kid slapping his mother’s potential boyfriend, telling him, “Keep your hands off my mama and keep your hands off my Doritos.” The Doritos loving/wielding maniac also brought some laughs. In general, the brand definitely seemed to hit the mark with viewers. Some people loved the Letterman/CBS ad featuring the trio of Letterman, Oprah and Leno, but others weren’t impressed. Most outlets are ranking it in the top 5 and the network went through some extreme measures to keep the ad a secret. Leno snuck into film the commercial on Tuesday night in the Ed Sullivan Theater in dark glasses and donning a fake mustache, while Oprah was smuggled in mainly unnoticed. What about the hype for the whole “anti-abortion” Tebow commercial? Many expected something a lot more dramatic, while most of us sat back and shook our heads. The let down for the commercial is a sure sign of Tebow’s upcoming career of let downs in the NFL. Let’s be thankful the Betty White Doritos commercial followed this extremely lame ad. From Coca-Cola and the Simpsons, the good old Clydesdales and always funny Monster and CareerBuilder ads, everyone has a favorite and we’re sure to see more repeats in the upcoming months. What was your favorite?
