BBC Radio 1 has announced the rest of the line-up for Radio 1′s Big Weekend, at Lydiard Park, Swindon on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May. Kicking off this year’s festival season, the station’s annual free flagship event gives 40,000 lucky music fans the chance to enjoy music from four arenas in the park – the Main Stage, the Outdoor Stage, the In New Music We Trust Stage and the BBC Introducing Stage. In addition to the Main Stage and In New Music We Trust stages whose line-ups have already been confirmed, there’s the Outdoor Stage – featuring a world class line-up of DJs and a fantastic line-up of unsigned, undiscovered and under the radar musical talent from around the UK on the BBC Introducing stage. Radio 1’s Zane Lowe revealed who will be on the Outdoor Stage during Scott Mills’ show today; and Huw Stephens named the bands that will perform on the BBC Introducing Stage in Zane’s programme.

The BBC Introducing Stage is back at Radio 1’s Big Weekend after its debut last year. Hosted by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens the stage will showcase nine bands a day across the weekend.

Paul Weller, Editors, The Pigeon Detectives, Doves, and 2manydjs, are some of the first names announced for the Hop Farm Festival which this year has expanded to a two day event with camping. The initial line-up for Saturday includes The Pigeon Detectives, Echo and the Bunnymen, Etienne De Crecy, Florence & The Machine, Noah And The Whale, Howling Bells, Dr.lektroluv, D.I.M, Jape, The Twilight Sad, Let’s Wrestle, and The Good The Bad.
Sunday’s line-up features Paul Weller, Editors, Doves, 2manydjs, Super Furry Animals, The Twang, (see photo) Mystery Jets, Ladyhawke, Scratch Perverts, The Rifles, That Petrol Emotion, Alex Cooper, 65daysofstatic, Dananananaykroyd, Burn The Negative, and R.S.A.G.. With more acts still to be announced.
The Hop Farm Festival which is held at the Hop Farm Country Park, Kent for two days from Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July is run by Vince Power, who founded Mean Fiddler (now Festival Republic) before selling it to Live Nation and MCD.
The festival was held as a one day festival last year with one stage and headlined by Neil Young. The day before the site was used by The Mighty Boosh Festival, also run by Power.
Tickets are priced at £125 for a weekend ticket including camping and parking, day tickets are priced at £65 for either day. Career tickets are also available at half price but must be purchased in pairs.
