You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift
On RTV Channel: You Belong with Me” is the title of a song co-written and recorded by American country artist Taylor Swift. It is the third single from her second album, Fearless. You Belong with Me” is a song in which the singer loves a boy, but they are just friends, and he is with someone else. Swift commented about the song’s background: “I came into the writing session with Liz Rose and said….I’ve got this idea. I had overheard a friend of mine talking to his girlfriend and he was completely on the defensive saying, ‘No, baby…I had to get off the phone really quickly…I tried to call you right back…Of course I love you. More than anything! Baby, I’m so sorry.’ She was just yelling at him! I felt so bad for him at that moment. So I came up with the first line ‘You’re on the phone with your girlfriend, she’s upset, going off about something that you said’, and I ran that into the story line that I’m in love with him and he should be with me instead of her. It just became this whole picture. It was really fun for us to write the line, ‘She wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts, She’s cheer captain, and I’m on the bleachers’”. This was thGood Girls Go Bad - Cobra Starship Featuring Leighton Meestere.
lead single from the American pop punk band’s third album, Hot Mess. This song was produced by American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. The busy songwriter/producer only could spare a couple of hours to spend with the band in the studio. This upset Cobra frontman Gabe Saporta, and he told MTV News that he gave her a “stinky beat” and popped off a list of foul-mouthed song titles. However DioGuardi didn’t flinch, which impressed the singer and within fifteen minutes they had recorded the song. This song features guest vocals from Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester. Saporta is a fan of both the actress and the drama series. He explained to MTV News how the collaboration came about: “A couple months ago, I heard a rumor that Leighton was working on a record, and I went to sleep that night dreaming of what it would be like to do a song with her. Next morning (afternoon, actually) I wake up to find out my dreams are coming true! Some people made phone calls to some other people, then, shazam! I’m on a plane to LA to record with my boo.” Saporta added: “Leighton is already quite adept at portraying a princess with a nasty side — now she’s just gotta sing about it. If all the world’s a stage, we should all be so lucky to play Gossip Girl characters.” Saporta told MTV News that he thought this song “would be perfect for Leighton because it’s already kind of her character in Gossip Girl, like the perfect girl with the bad streak.” Once Saporta sent her this song, Meester took an immediate liking to it. She told MTV news: “I thought, ‘I need to get on that!’ It totally is my sound too. Really fun to dance to it. Very edgy and cool.” Check out the video on RTV Channel.

Video Alert; Sometimes - Koot

I Gotta Feeling - The Black Eyed Peas
This is finally the true sequel to the Black Eyed Peas’ huge classic “Let’s Get It Started.” The abrupt change in musical style from the electro of “Boom Boom Pow” may startle some fans, but in recent years musical eclecticism has become a trademark of the Black Eyed Peas. Put this on when you head out Friday night, as suggested by will.i.am, and you just may have found your favorite party song of summer 2009. Check out the video on RTV Channel.

Burn It To The Ground - Nickelback
Nickelback sure do love their 1980s arena rock. Not only do they write some of the most anthemic rock you’ll hear on radio these days, on their most recent album, ‘Dark Horse,’ the Canadian superstars hired Robert “Mutt” Lange to sit in the producer’s chair. “The cool thing about Mutt is that he always envisions a band playing in an arena and the dynamics that should go behind that.” says Nickelback guitarist/vocalist Chad Kroeger when Noisecreep caught up with him this week. Known for his sonically groundbreaking work on classic albums by AC/DC, Def Leppard and Foreigner, Lange has been one of the most influential guys working in the business for over four decades. ”Working with him was a change because I always approach songwriting from an almost movie or storytelling angle but Mutt doesn’t really get into that. He told me that he wants the “bumper sticker” quality to come out in our songs which was funny but I totally understood what he meant, ” revealed the frontman. “He wants lines and choruses that jump out at you so I actually had to re-write “Burn it to the Ground” three times.” We asked Chad if the third time was the charm and he laughed and offered, “I looked at this way, no news is good news!” Noisecreep asked Kroeger about Nickelback’s brand new video for the aforementioned ‘Burn it to the Ground,’ “The song’s vibe just fits the setting an arena show gives off so we filmed it at the O2 Arena on our last UK tour. Matthew Amos did a fantastic job of capturing the energy of our live show,” says Kroeger. The song comes off ‘Dark Horse’ but is also available on the brand new ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ soundtrack. Check out the video on RTV Channel.

No Surprise - Daughtry
Daughtry are planning to stick around awhile. “No Surprise,” the first single from their upcoming second album, Leave This Town, makes that abundantly clear. Daughtry are the sound of mainstream rock today, and “No Surprise” is possibly stronger than any of the singles off their four million selling debut album. A wall of guitar is topped off by Chris Daughtry’s gravelly but clear vocals and skillfully crafted lyrics. There’s no mistaking this as a hit when you hear it. Check out the video on RTV Channel.

Run This Town - Jay-Z, Rihanna & Kanye West
OK, so they may have lost this week’s sales battle with teen star Miley Cyrus, but the video just released for “Run This Town” by Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West is powerful. The video was directed by veteran video director Anthony Mandler who has directed 10 of Rihanna’s videos. He commented on the production of the video saying, “We wanted you to feel uneasy throughout the piece. We wanted there to be a constant layer of tension through the piece.” A small army of extras adds to the feeling of tense dread in a chaotic world. The video was filmed just over two weeks ago in New York City’s Fort Totten Park. There is not an official confirmation, but a live performance of “Run This Town” is expected at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. For now, check out the video on RTV Channel.

Battlefield - Jordin Sparks
Battlefield” is the lead single from Grammy-nominated American R&B artist Jordin Sparks’ sophomore studio album, which is due to be released July 14, 2009. The single was able to be purchased on iTunes as of May 12th, 2009. The mid-tempo R&B track was written and produced by Grammy nominated producer/songwriter and One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder, whose long list of accolades includes hits for fellow American Idol Kelly Clarkson, Beyoncé, Leona Lewis, Timbaland, Jennifer Hudson and Rihanna. Wayne Wilkins, Louis Biancaniello and Sam Watters also co-wrote the song. Sparks told Digital Spy about the recording of the song: “What grabbed me at first actually was the fact it was so big. The melody starts off very soft but then it gets massive and kinda angsty. I’ve had lots of friends who’ve gone through ‘Battlefield’ situations in their relationships, so when I was singing the song I put myself in their position and tried to imagine what they were going through. I got so, so into it and I think you can tell.” (Source Battlefield Songfacts). Jordin performed “Battlefield” on American Idol Season 8 Top 3 Result Show on May 13, 2009. The single has received a very positive response so far, all generating from online forums and blogs. Pop Justice raves: “To start with you think ‘this isn’t up to much’ then by the end of it you think ‘this is going to be Number One for precisely 2.5 months’. There is a brilliant middle eight where everything falls out and it’s just Jordin bellowing “like a battlefield! Like a battlefield!” and then it all crashes back in and then it all falls out again and then it all goes back in again and it’s all jolly good.” Check out the video on RTV Channel.

Party In The U.S.A. - Miley Cyrus
The music video for Miley Cyrus’ smash hit single “Party In the USA” is out. It is directed by Chris Applebaum and fits the themes and sound of the song nearly perfectly. Instead of at a trailer park like in a controversial earlier live performance, Miley Cyrus and friends dance in the daylight at a drive-in movie theater. She shows off her cowboy boots. Midway through the video the flag is unfurled and much of the rest is distinctly intended to celebrate the USA. The entire feel of the clip remains gently laidback matching the tempo and tenor of the song. Check out the video on RTV Channel.

21 Guns - Green Day
Green Day have an expensive looking video out for their new single, “21 Guns.” The clip finds the band performing the ballad in a room that was assaulted by gunfire, and a couple under similar circumstances. The gunfire is probably a metaphor for something, but was probably chosen because it looks sorta cool. This song is a perfect example how Green Day have opted for a generic and vague lyrical approach, but then claim that they’re political now (or something). This is as political and meaningful as a Che Guevara poster in a dorm room. Check out the video on RTV Channel.

Waking Up In Vegas - Katy Perry
This time Katy Perry isn’t kissing girls or worried male fickleness. She is stuck in Vegas without her fake ID or her boyfriend’s motel room key. The detail in the song’s story is fun propelled along by a steady beat that breaks into a chorus almost worthy of being an advertising jingle for Las Vegas tourism. Anders Carlsson’s past experience working with Max Martin is obvious in the song’s poppy energy. Greg Wells has serious skill in helping turn a song into something unforgettably catchy. Then there is Katy Perry who fearlessly steps forward into stories and wit that skates the line between quite funny and annoyingly in your face. This is a return to uptempo form for Perry after the slow down of the last single “Thinking Of You.” Energetic pop is clearly the best at delivering her clever and witty words. The video that accompanies “Waking Up In Vegas” is of special note. It was directed by Joseph Kahn, one of the most experienced and decortated of video directors. Actor Joel David Moore co-stars with Katy Perry in the short visual story of a couple caught up in the world of Vegas. The clip is lush and filled with visual energy. It is a perfect foil for the singalong fun of the song “Waking Up In Vegas.” Katy Perry explained this song to The Sun newspaper: “Vegas gives me that ‘what the f—- feeling.’ It’s really close to LA so one night you could be having a beer with your friends and, when you wake up, you’re in Vegas.” Check out the video on RTV Channel.
