Matt Damon Says No To More "Bourne" Films

While some audiences may have thought the new thriller “Green Zone” was a new Jason Bourne flick (it’s from the studio who brought you the “Bourne” films, the director who brought you the two “Bourne” sequels, and the star of the “Bourne” films), star Matt Damon wants to make sure audiences don’t have that confusion again. He’s saying no to anymore Bourne films. Damon starred in “The Bourne Identity,” “The Bourne Supremacy,” and “The Bourne Ultimatum,” which all grossed over $100 million at the U.S. box office. He even has some suggestions for Universal on how to keep the hit franchise moving without him.  “I think there’s a good way to do a prequel with someone else, but not me. What any studio is interested in is making a franchise like Bourne an evergreen that can just go on and on,” Damon told Parade magazine. “With me playing him, Bourne got his memory back three times. So I don’t think anybody wants to see me say ‘I don’t remember’ again.”  “But you could do a prequel with another actor being the first Bourne before his identity gets passed on to me. In fact, why not two or three? As for me coming back to do him again, I’m just saying no.”   The “Bourne” films also saw a lot more green than “Green Zone.” 2007’s “Bourne Ultimatum” opened with $69 million. “Green Zone” earned only $14.3 its first weekend out. But with box-office aside, Damon is ready to move on, like he did with his Oscar-nominated turn in last year’s Clint Eastwood-directed “Invictus.” He next appears in the futuristic “The Adjustment Team” with Emily Blunt and another Eastwood pic, “Hereafter.”
