Letterman, Leno, Winfrey Celebrate Worst Super Bowl Party Ever In Hilarious Ad

Letterman, Leno, Winfrey Celebrate Worst Super Bowl Party Ever In Hilarious Ad. You’d never thought it possible, but David Letterman and Jay Leno had celebrated the worst Super Bowl party together – with Oprah Winfrey no less! Late night TV’s fiercest rivals managed to share a couch with the queen of daytime talk to watch NFL’s biggest event. The hilarious 15-second ad, premiered on Sunday’s Super Bowl, featured a disgruntled Letterman complaining to Winfrey “This is the worst Super Bowl party ever” as they watched the game together. Winfrey then chided him to “be nice,” before the camera spans to Leno who was sitting at the other end of the couch.   He said, “He’s just saying that because I’m here,” prompting Letterman to mimic his voice.  What made the ad super funny was the fact that not only the three have a tumultuous history together, but also because in the past weeks, Letterman and Leno’s relationship has been especially testy when news of Conan O’Brien’s departure from the “Tonight Show” was made known. The idea was conceived by Letterman himself, who thought it was funny to have them all three together share a couch. “Late Show” exec producer Rob Burnett told the New York Times that the 62-year-old funnnyman wrote the script for the ad shot at the Ed Sullivan Theater last Tuesday. Leno and Winfrey flew in to New York under the strictest of secrecy, arriving at the “Late Show” studio in disguise.  And if you think NBC would have made fuss about their star’s appearance for the rival show’s ad, think again. The peacock network’s chief executive, Jeff Zucker, the same one whom Letterman has targeted for his acerbic jokes recently, granted them his go signal. So how was the tension during the shoot? Burnett said the late-night titans greeted each other warmly, saying, “It was very friendly, very professional, totally cordial. You could tell these were two guys who have known each other for a long time.”
