Katy Perry
Katy Perry Earns First Billboard #1 Album With “Teenage Dream”. With her follow-up to “One of the Boys,” Katy Perry is now one of the big boys, earning her first #1 album on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” which features the hit title track and this summer’s #1 “California Gurls,” entered the chart in the top spot, scanning 192,000 copies. She’s also the first female solo artist to take the top spot since Ke$ha spent a week at #1 with “Animal” in January. Debuting at #2 with her highest chart position yet is Fantasia with her third studio album, “Back to Me.” The album sold 122,000 copies in its first week, less than the debut of 2006’s “Fantasia” which bowed with 133,000 but at a much lower #19. Last week’s #1, Eminem’s “Recovery,” is down to #3 this week, selling 98,000 copies. Usher debuts in the #4 spot with his new album, “Versus.” Featuring the single “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love,” “Versus” sells 46,000 copies in its first week. The album was released as a stand-alone album, adding the R&B hit “There Goes My Baby,” as well as coupled with his “Raymond V. Raymond” album. It’s Usher’s sixth top 10 album on the chart. Little Big Town debut at #5 and also earn the #1 country album this week with “The Reason Why,” their fourth studio album. The album sold 42,000 copies in its first week, earning them their first top 10 album and first country #1 this week. Down to #6 this week is R&B singer Kem with “Intimacy,” selling 30,000 copies. Justin Bieber is down to #7 this week on the chart with “My World 2.0,” selling 29,000 copies. At #8 is another debut, this time from the Randy Rogers Band and their latest, “Burning the Day.” It’s their biggest-selling, highest-charting album yet and their first since their 2008 self-titled album. At #9 is Ray LaMontagne with “God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise,” dropping down six spots from its #3 debut last week. He sells 28,000 copies this week. At #10 is Devil Wears Prada with their new EP “Zombie,” which moves 25,000 copies.
