John Squire’s ‘Statement’ to be sold

John Squire’s original artwork, ‘Statement’, created to conclusively dispel rumours in the press that The Stone Roses were to reform earlier this year, will go on sale at auction on 1 July 2009, at Christie’s. The artwork is a 10 gauge steel box outline, with a hand written statement by Squire “I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester pop group The Stone Roses”, signed and dated by Squire and mounted in a perspex box. John has never sold any of his Stone Roses related artwork before and has no plans to, so this auction is a unique opportunity to acquire a significant piece of music history relating to the band.
