John Squire’s ‘Statement’ to be sold

johnsquire-rtvJohn Squire’s original artwork, ‘Statement’, created to conclusively dispel rumours in the press that The Stone Roses were to reform earlier this year, will go on sale at auction on 1 July 2009, at Christie’s. The artwork is a 10 gauge steel box outline, with a hand written statement by Squire “I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester pop group The Stone Roses”, signed and dated by Squire and mounted in a perspex box. John has never sold any of his Stone Roses related artwork before and has no plans to, so this auction is a unique opportunity to acquire a significant piece of music history relating to the band.
