First Lady Michelle Obama is set to be honored on the upcoming Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards with a special presentation. She will receive The Big Help Award for championing a health movement with her Let’s Move! initiative. The mother of two launched the movement in February this year in a bid to end childhood obesity in the country. Nickelodeon has expressed interest in the campaign, dedicating resources and research, including shooting a family-targeted PSA and airing special programming events. Executive VP of Public Affairs and Chief of Staff, Marva Smalls, said, “First Lady Michelle Obama has taken on one of this generation’s most pressing concerns: the health and wellness of our nation’s children.” “Her willingness to work hard, influence other and her dedication to improving the nation is inspiring, and we are proud to honor her for her commitment to empowering kids and families to address one of the most important issues of today.” The presentation of the Big Help award will also launch Nick’s The big Help “Millions on the Move” campaign, which combines all of Nick’s existing pro-social efforts under one umbrella and focuses on four key issues – environment, education, health and wellness, and community service – that kids have identified as being important to them. The Big Help “Millions on the Move” will highlight four different areas throughout this year until 2011. The 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards will be held on March 27.
