The red-hot Orlando Magic shoot for their sixth straight win Tuesday when they resume a four-game western road swing in Hollywood against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Magic will also be attempting to earn a franchise record with their eighth straight road win in a season and match the 1995-96 Orlando team that opened up that season 17-4. The Magic did win nine straight as the visitor before but that spanned two seasons, the final two road games of 2006-07 and the first seven in the following season. Seven Lakes struggled at the McDonald’s Texas Invitational, going just 1-4 against some of the best competition in Texas. Now the Spartans have a chance to turn things around this weekend at their own Katy Classic tournament, which they went 5-0 in and won last season by beating Tomball 60-58 in the title game. It’s refreshing to see that Florida star defensive end Carlos Dunlap has been eating his vegetables and getting plenty of rest the week of one of the biggest games the Gators will ever play. In his defense, according to the police report, he was at least sleeping in his car at 3:25 in the morning when police found him. At this point, Dunlap is only charged with drunken driving. Perhaps there’s an explanation. But in reading the Gainesville Police Department’s account of Dunlap’s arrest, it’s difficult to imagine what that explanation might be. The Seahawks suffered a setback before Sunday’s game even started, and not just because running back Julius Jones missed his second consecutive game because of a bruised lung. Seattle’s setback comes from the absence of Richie Incognito, who can always be counted on to commit a penalty or three against the Seahawks. For the second time in a week, the White Sox signed an aging player they have sought for years, although the question is whether outfielder Andruw Jones can be as valuable as infielder Omar Vizquel, or whether either might be the new Bartolo Colon. Though Jones is “only” 32 years old, his career has been in steep decline since he left the Braves after the 2007 season, when the Sox originally wanted him.
