Calvin Klein ‘threesome’ billboard in SoHo too sexy, say some
Posted in: Coffee Talk by newsdesk on June 15, 2024
Leon Ivangododsky, 30, with his seven-month-old son Lief, reacts to the Calvin Klein Billboard on Houston Street and Lafayette Street.A steamy Calvin Klein billboard that seems to show a teenage girl in a threesome - with suggestions of a foursome - is raising eyebrows and ire. Passersby can’t miss the massive, sexually charged ad on a building at Lafayette and Houston Sts. in SoHo, and they can’t believe their eyes. “It’s borderline pornographic,” said neighborhood resident Lisa Marchese, 36, a marketing specialist who was disturbed by the youthfulness of the models. “They all look so young, particularly the girl. And to portray them in a threesome - it’s just taking it too far.” The ad depicts a topless young woman lying on top of a barechested boy while kissing a second shirtless male. They’re on a sofa, and below them a third male - pants and shirt unbuttoned - is lying on the floor. Asked about the message in the ad, a Calvin Klein spokesman said the “intention was to create a very sexy campaign that speaks to our targeted demographic.” New Yorkers think they overshot. “It’s pretty provocative,” said Murray Hill resident Alicia Shay, 24, who happens to sell jeans for a living. “Just the positioning of them all - she’s kissing him, the other guy has his hands down her pants, they’re all misty even. It’s really inappropriate.” Calvin Klein has long pushed the envelope with its advertising, starting with a 15-year-old Brooke Shields cooing that “nothing” came between her and her Calvins in 1981. In 1995, the American Family Association, a conservative Christian group, pressured the company into yanking ads that some said were evocative of child porn. The group’s founder, the Rev. Don Wildmon, said he was disappointed by the new billboard. “It shows a lack of respect for our society, especially for young people,” he said. “It’s a sad thing in America when the only thing they want is money and they’ll keep using sex to get it.”
Coldplay ‘very likely’ for ‘New Moon’
Posted in: Film by newsdesk on June 15, 2024
Coldplay could “very likely” feature on the soundtrack to New Moon, according to the band’s official website. The group’s Q&A page, managed by themselves and their handlers, hinted that there is a strong possibility that a Coldplay track could be selected for the highly-anticipated sequel to vampire romance Twilight. “It’s very likely that a Coldplay song will end up on the soundtrack to the Twilight sequel,” read one response to a fan query. “Given that [author] Stephenie Meyer has credited Coldplay, among others, on the inner sleeve for ‘being instrumental in staving off the writer’s block’.” Meyer has often credited her favourite bands for inspiring her writing. Other musicians to get a name check in her book credits include Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and Muse. Paramore, who featured on the original soundtrack, recently played down speculation that they would contribute any further songs to the franchise, while My Chemical Romance have also ruled out the likelihood of a collaboration.
Lily Allen ‘is desperate for a boyfriend’
Posted in: Coffee Talk by newsdesk on June 15, 2024
Lily Allen is desperate to have a new man in her life because she hates being single. The ‘Fear’ singer, who recently parted ways with art dealer Jay Jopling after seeing each other for only a month, is begging her friends to hook her up, according to sources. “Lily hates being single - she needs a man in her life. She feels insecure going to events and hates turning up without a man. She wants someone to hold her hand for all the red carpet events she attends,” Contactmusic quoted the source as saying. “She’s even been asking friends to set her up on dates. She can’t seem to meet anyone, and it’s making her miserable,” the source added. Sources say that Allen is concerned about her public image and thinks remaining single will hamper her profile before the upcoming U.K tour. “Lily’s vulnerable after her relationships failed. She is especially concerned about going on her tour without a boyfriend there for her backstage. She needs a man to take care of her, and to give her attention. Without that, she fears she’ll go off the rails.” the source said.
The 24-year-old singer has previously dated DJ Seb Chew, 32, and Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons, 39.
Psssst, Miley Cyrus, Robert Pattinson, Megan Fox and More
Posted in: Psssst by newsdesk on June 15, 2024
Alright, teen girls, you might want to sit down for this one. Are you ready? Ok, here we go: Miley Cyrus has ‘reconnected’ with Nick Jonas. It’s cool; just keep breathing. Girls, you might want to stay seated because the hits just keep on coming: it turns out those six-pack abs Robert Pattinson was sporting on the New Moon set were just the byproduct of makeup. On the plus side, Taylor Lautner’s biceps are all real. Megan Fox keeps taking fashion risks on the red carpet. This week: she went braless in a red dress with an outrageous slit. Well, we all knew confidence was never an issue with her. Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest film, Bruno, is getting mixed reviews. Leave it to Jennifer Aniston to wear a dress that looks like it’s made of tinfoil and still look hot. As Madonna prepares to introduce newly adopted Mercy to her life, Mercy’s father has given up his bid to block the adoption. The Hangover took the top spot at the weekend box office, while Eddie Murphy’s latest film flopped. The stars came out for David Carradine’s private funeral on Saturday. Despite nearly every tabloid’s cover story, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still together…and still charitable.
CBS orders more “I Get That” hidden-camera shows
Posted in: tv by newsdesk on June 15, 2024
CBS is ordering three more editions of its surprise hit hidden-camera special “I Get That a Lot,” in which celebrities work low-wage jobs while incognito and fool unsuspecting customers. “That” premiered on April Fools Day and featured the likes of Heidi Klum, Jeff Probst, Jessica Simpson. The special in turn stunned observers by drawing 10 million viewers. CBS might air the “Get That a Lot” specials quarterly and stunt cast with talent from other high-profile specials airing around the same time (for instance, casting all music artists for a “Get That a Lot” to air near the Grammys).
Country’s hottest star connects with audience in new tour
Posted in: Country Music by newsdesk on June 15, 2024
He’s back, and he’s rocking the stage like never before. Keith Urban hits the Bi-Lo Center Wednesday with his Escape Together tour, and the country star said it’s a show unlike any he’s ever done. “The production is exponentially different from what we’ve had last year,” he said. “This tour is really deeply designed, from the staging and the lighting and the videos, to connect with the audience and to eliminate some of the barriers, figuratively and literally, that often are between us and the audience.” Coming on the heels of the March release of his “Defying Gravity” album, the Escape Together tour will feature Urban’s signature country-rock sound. Urban, who said he spent a lot of years playing cover tunes from artists like John Mellencamp, Credence Clearwater Revival and Tom Petty, said he incorporates influences from all kinds of music into his. “There’s a real connection between all of that, and it feels really natural to me,” he said. “All the boundaries are starting to blur in every area of these genres, not just musically but visually too.” In a concert setting, Urban’s “beat-driven” tunes can ignite the crowd. “Those moments are great when everything becomes one – the audience, us, the music, everything,” he said. “Seeing people sing the songs, and you can see that connection they’ve got with what’s going on… It’s really beautiful.” Fans will be able to sing along with a slew of Urban’s singles, including nine No. 1 hits and his latest single, “Kiss A Girl.” The Australia native burst onto the Nashville scene a decade ago when his debut solo album, “Keith Urban,” spawned four hit singles, including “Where the Blacktop Ends” and “But for the Grace of God.” Since then, he’s racked up hits songs, hit albums, big awards and more. Special guest Sugarland will open the show, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
