oprahwinfreyNo more Oprah?   Oprah Winfrey announced that after 25 years, she will be pulling the plug on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Sept. 9, 2011. Oprah is preparing to start her own cable channel, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. Celebs voiced their support and awe at Oprah’s decision. Ellen DeGeneres said, “I don’t think I could be here without her,” and Gayle King said, “We don’t need to worry about [Oprah] filling her time, I promise you that!” The media-mogul reaches 7 million viewers a day with The Oprah Winfrey Show. Bower was asked who he would pick to direct the fourth installment of the ‘Twilight’ Series, ‘Breaking Dawn,’ when he responded with Tim Burton’s name. With the fourth book arguably being the most intense, why wouldn’t Burton’s name be suggested?  Actress Ashley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen in the Twilight series, validated this comment to MTV at the MoMA Second Annual Film Benefit saying, “…if you look at what we’ve done from ‘Twilight’ to ‘New Moon’ to ‘Eclipse’ director-wise, they’re all completely different, because the tones are different. Supermodel Daul Kim has died

Supermodel Daul Kim has diedThe Cut reports that 20 year old Korean model Daul Kim has died. She was found dead in Paris this morning, her agents at Next confirm to NY Magazine. “She was a top model and a great friend to all of us at Next. Please respect her family’s privacy at this time of sadness. We will all miss her very much,” they said in a statement. As a source told the 20-year-old committed suicide. Seul born model started her career in Korean Vogue and quickly became a favorite of i-D and Dazed & Confused with Steven Meisel and Sebastian Kim shooting her. She walked numerous shows including Chanel Couture and starred at Chanel Coco Cocoon video. Daul has been feautured as a face of Moschino campaign in 2007 and had a solo exhibit in her native Seoul of her paintings.

University of Georgia football: All Ugas go to heaven

Uga VIIUga VII, the white English bulldog mascot for the University of Georgia’s football team, died Thursday of heart-related causes. The 56-pound dog seemed oblivious to crowd noise during games and would sit patiently as excited fans snapped photos of him. Uga made his debut as the mascot in August 2008 after his father, Uga VI, died of congestive heart failure. “He was 10-3 last year, which is not bad for a freshman,” said Sonny Seiler, owner of Uga VII. The school said there would be no mascot at Saturday’s game in Athens against Kentucky, but that a wreath will be laid on his doghouse on the field’s sideline. Uga VII was 4.
